Trader Joe’s built its reputation on offering quality wines at prices that seem impossible. The grocery chain sold more than 800 million bottles of its Charles Shaw line in 12 years, proving Americans love good cheap wine.

The secret lies in private labeling and buying directly from producers. About 80% of Trader Joe’s products carry its own label, cutting out middlemen and marketing fees.

We’ve picked eight bottles under $10 that taste like they cost two or three times more. These wines deliver complexity, balance and character that rivals the more expensive options.

The Sparkling Standout

La Granja 360 Brut Cava runs about $9 and uses the traditional Champagne method. The Spanish sparkling wine has bright bubbles and crisp citrus notes. It’s a perfect celebration bubbly, and at that price, the celebration can just be Friday.

White Wine Winners

Vignobles Lacheteau Vouvray costs $8.99 and comes from France’s Loire Valley. The white shows pear, green apple and almond notes with a slightly tart finish.

Floriana Grüner Veltliner from Hungary runs $5.99. The light citrusy white is bright, acidic and surprisingly complex for the price.

Tuatea Sauvignon Blanc at $5.99 brings zesty citrus and tropical notes to the table. New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs typically command premium prices due to their reputation for bright, zippy mineral flavors. The Tuatea delivers similar character at a budget price.

Red Wine Values

Maison Barboulot Cabernet-Syrah costs just $5.99. The French red blend offers depth and structure that shoppers find tough to match at this price.

Vin De Bordeaux B by Fonbadet Bordeaux 2019 runs $7.99 for this delectable red. The easy-drinking wine shows fruit-forward character. It’s deep, rich and a perfect pairing for any decadent meal.

Cherry Blossom Pinot Noir at $4.99 is a bargain basement option, but you wouldn’t know it. The fruity, smooth red won’t blow anyone away with complexity but delivers drinkability far above other $4 wines. It’s a winner.

The Rosé

La Ferme Julien Rosé costs around $6.99 and is worth every penny. The playful pink wine works for summer sipping or pairing with light dishes. It punches above its weight when it comes to value for its price. Drink this one all summer long and have zero regrets.
