There’s a not-so-hidden loophole to saving even more money on Walgreens brand items. A portion of the Walgreens website features items that are priced at $5 and under and are all part of the Walgreens brand.
In lieu of selecting various Walgreens brand items, GOBankingRates decided to focus on Walgreens brand items that are part of the $5-and-under inventory and would be ideal for retirees to shop, whether you’re on a fixed income or have a lot of budgeting wiggle room in retirement.Â
Here’s what made our Walgreens shopping list.
Men’s Multivitamin Gummies
- Price: $5.00
Shopping for a name brand in men’s multivitamin gummies, like Nature Made or Centrum, easily hikes up the cost to $10 or more.Â
At Walgreens, retirees can buy a 30-count container of men’s multivitamin gummies under the Walgreens brand and pay just $5 for 30 gummies. Per gummy, this comes out to spending about 17 cents each.
Women’s Multivitamin Gummies
- Price: $5.00
Like men’s gummies, women’s multivitamin gummies also tend to be more expensive when shopping for name brands. To save money without sacrificing multivitamin count (or overall health and wellness!), retirees can shop the Walgreens brand for $5 each.Â
Buying two costs $10 and provides the buyer with 60 multivitamins. This is 10 more than what they’d receive shopping for multivitamin name brands like Olly.
Ibuprofen Pain Reliever
- Price: $2.00
Retirees with fall travel plans, such as flying out for Thanksgiving or during the holiday season, will want to add the Walgreens brand ibuprofen pain relievers to their shopping carts.Â
At $2 a box for 15 coated tablets, these are just as carry-on friendly as they are effective in providing powerful relief from various aches and pains. This item is FSA eligible at Walgreens.
Daytime Cold and Flu Soft Gels
- Price: $5.00
Cold and flu season is underway and retirees can relieve common symptoms like coughs and sore throat by using the Walgreens brand daytime cold and flu soft gels.Â
The box packaging notes that these soft gels are comparable to the active ingredients in DayQuil cold and flu LiquiCaps, but without the higher markup cost. This item is FSA eligible at Walgreens.
Antacid Tablets
- Price: $2.00
The fall months mean it’s time to indulge in richer foods. For retirees, this means more opportunities to experience indigestion.Â
For just $2 a bottle, Walgreens brand antacid tablets can provide much-needed relief. Better yet, a generous amount of 66 chewable fruit-flavored tablets come inside every container.
Pain Reliever PM
- Price: $3.00
The inexpensive price tag aside, we felt the Walgreens pain reliever PM deserved a spot on this list because its active ingredients compared to those in Extra Strength Tylenol PM.Â
Buying four caplets of Extra Strength Tylenol PM would cost retirees $1.99 at Walgreens. By comparison, the Walgreens brand contains 15 caplets. This item is FSA eligible at Walgreens.
