Do jersey sales correspond to wins? No, there’s no proven correlation.

But in 2020, the player with the top jersey sales in three of the four major sports leagues in the U.S. came from the reigning champions: Mookie Betts (Los Angeles Dodgers), LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers) and Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs).

The only exception is in the NHL, where Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins lost in the first round of the playoffs.
