Regions Prestige Visa Signature Credit Card Overview

The Regions Prestige Visa Signature Credit Card earns Relationship Rewards points on all purchases: 3x points for dining and entertainment, 2x points for gas and groceries and 1x point for all other eligible spending. The card doubles as a balance-transfer card, as it offers a promotional APR on purchases and on balance transfers made within the first 60 days after opening an account. Although the balance-transfer fee is relatively high at $10 or 4%, whichever is greater, the Regions Prestige card has a competitive standard APR and no annual or foreign-transaction fees.

Regions Relationship Rewards points are worth 1 cent each, no matter how you redeem them. Cardholders who also have a Regions deposit account and maintain at least a $15,000 balance can earn more with the Regions Rewards Multiplier. The multiplier adds anywhere from 0.25 to one extra point, depending on the deposit-account balance, for qualifying purchases.

Rewards can be redeemed for statement credits, paper checks, direct deposits into Regions deposit accounts or rewards-center purchases.

Key Features

A number of factors determine whether a particular credit card might be a good fit for your spending and repayment habits. Here are some top features to consider for the Regions Prestige Visa Signature Credit Card.

Annual Fees

A recent GOBankingRates survey revealed that annual fees are the fees people most hate about credit cards. Regions Prestige cardholders don’t have to worry about that because the card has no annual fee. That means there’s no pressure to overuse your card just to earn enough points to cover the fee.

Cap On Rewards

Some cards put a cap on the rewards you can earn, usually by limiting the dollar value of purchases eligible for bonus categories. Not only do caps reduce your rewards earning power, but they also make it difficult to compare one card to another. The Regions Prestige Visa Signature Credit Card has no caps on the number of Relationship Rewards points you can earn, or on the maximum purchases eligible to earn rewards. You always get 3x points for dining and entertainment, 2x points on grocery and gas purchases and 1x points on all other purchases.

Accessibility

Regions Bank notes on its website that it takes accessibility seriously. Each of its 1,400 branch locations is Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant, and the bank has over 2,000 ATMs with speech output and voice instructions, plus earphone jacks for privacy.

Customers who need accommodations for blindness or low vision can receive statements containing large print or Braille — or receive audio CDs instead of print copies. In addition, the bank makes available assistance with reading and completing forms.

Customers with deafness or difficulty hearing can communicate with Regions Bank using telecommunications relay service calls. TTY/TDD calls can connect through the Regions Contact Center at 800-374-5791. In addition, Regions will arrange for a sign-language interpreter to be present during an branch or office visit — just let your branch know in advance that you’ll need one.

Customers who need accommodations not listed here or who have concerns about accommodations can call Regions’ Disability Services and Outreach manager at 205-264-7495.

Number of Categories Rewarded

The Regions Prestige Visa Signature Credit Card falls a bit short compared to competing cards when it comes to the number of categories rewarded with bonus points. However, you’ll likely find many of your most frequent purchase categories among those it does offer. Here’s how Regions Relationship Rewards accumulate:

Note that entertainment includes outside entertainment, such as movie and concert tickets. It does not include in-home entertainment such as media streaming.

How the Regions Prestige Visa Signature Credit Card Stands Out

The Regions Prestige Visa Signature Card stands out for being a solid all-around rewards card. With 2x and 3x points for some of the categories you likely spend most on day-to-day, plus an introductory APR and no annual fee, this card is a worthy choice for a primary card — or a second card to use in conjunction with one offering top rewards on different categories.

Comparable Reward Card Options

With so many cards competing for your business, it’s helpful to have a side-by-side comparison of similar cards. Here’s how the Regions Prestige card stacks up against the U.S. Bank Altitude Connect Visa Signature Card and Citi Premier Card.

Regions Prestige Visa Signature Credit Card vs. U.S. Bank Altitude Connect Visa Signature Card

The U.S. Bank Altitude Connect Visa Signature Card offers 5x points on prepaid hotels and car rentals booked through the Altitude Rewards Center, 4x points on travel and gas, 2x points on groceries, dining and streaming and 1x point on all other purchases. It also has a 50,000-point introductory bonus, but you’ll have to spend $2,000 in the first 120 days to earn it. The generous rewards and bonus come at a steep price: the card has a $95 annual fee and a minimum APR that’s several percentage points higher than the Regions Prestige card’s.

Regions Prestige Visa Signature Credit Card vs.

You’ll have to spend $4,000 in the first three months — that’s over $44 per day — to earn Citi Premier’s 80,000-point bonus. With an $800 value, the bonus is a generous one even after you account for the card’s annual fee. However, the APR is a few points higher than the Prestige card’s, and with the exception of the travel category, the rewards aren’t all that much better: 3x at restaurants, supermarkets, gas stations, air travel and hotels and 1x point on all other purchases. What’s more, there’s no introductory promotional APR.

How To Apply

Region Bank’s credit card application process is a little different than the process most other card issuers use. You can only apply for a card online if you already have a Regions checking or savings account. Otherwise, you’ll have to call 800-734-4667 or visit a bank branch.

Have your Social Security number, address and employment and income information ready when you apply.

Who the Regions Prestige Visa Signature Card Is Best For

The Regions Prestige card is best for someone looking to graduate from a basic credit card to a rewards card — especially if they have a balance to transfer and can take advantage of Prestige’s introductory APR period. While not a credit-builder card — you’ll likely need established credit to get it — Prestige could be easier to be approved for because there’s no minimum credit-score requirement to qualify.

Final Take

If you’re looking for one card to keep in your wallet all the time, the Regions Prestige Visa Signature might be the one — as long as you don’t spend much on travel. With no annual fee, a decent new-member bonus and a promotional APR, this card is likely to satisfy most customers.
