If you’re in the market for a luxury car, you may have noticed soaring price tags at your local dealership. It’s not a one-off: Average prices for a new vehicle reached $50,080 in 2025, breaking all-time records. So, what’s a buyer on a budget to do?
Consider buying used instead of a brand-new vehicle. You’ll enjoy a more affordable set of wheels without giving up the bells and whistles that luxury cars offer. Recently, Edmunds named five used luxury vehicles worth your attention. Snap up one of these bargains for under $40,000.
BMW Series 3
- Model Year: 2023
- Estimated Price: $29,639-$32,954
- MPG: 26/36 RWD, 25/34 AWD
The BMW Series 3 comes in several base models, including the 330i and 330e. While compact, it has adequate space to comfortably transport three passengers. Inside, you’ll find a premium infotainment and driver information screen.
Standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, simulated leather upholstery and automated climate control. Premium features available on some cars include heated seats and keyless entry.
Mercedes-Benz GLB
- Model Year: 2022-2023
- Estimated Price: $25,632-$30,063
- MPG: 24/32 FWD, 22/30 4Matic
Those who prefer more space and height may enjoy the Mercedes-Benz GLB. This small SUV can comfortably seat five adults with 30 inches of legroom. For even more space, you can add third-row seating, although this can be a tight squeeze for taller passengers.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB includes a 10.25-inch, voice-activated infotainment screen. Other available features include a 360-degree camera for quick and easy parking. If you appreciate a quiet vehicle that’s easy to maneuver, this car is a solid choice.
Genesis GV70 2.5T Standard Sport Utility 4D
- Model Year: 2023
- Estimated Price: $32,928
- MPG: 22/28
Hyundai has a reputation for no-frills budget vehicles. But if you haven’t tried out its luxury Genesis line, you’re missing out. The Genesis GV70 offers an elegant driving experience with all the features you’d expect in a top-of-the-line compact SUV. You also benefit from Hyundai’s famous 10-year powertrain warranty, which is virtually nonexistent among luxury competitor brands.
The interior of the Genesis GV70 includes a 14.5-inch high-definition infotainment screen that integrates with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. If you have lengthy commutes, you’ll appreciate the ergonomic seat design that reduces pressure on your lower back. Optional features include a Lexicon surround sound system and leather seating.
Acura MDX
- Model Year: 2022-2023
- Estimated Price: $30,894-$39,739
- MPG: 19/26 FWD, 19/25 AWD
The Acura MDX remains a favorite among luxury SUV drivers, likely due to its smooth handling, polished design and innovative safety features. Models manufactured post-2021 are built on Honda’s light-duty truck chassis, allowing for improved suspension and horsepower.
The MDX fits up to seven people with ample legroom, although the third row is best tolerated by shorter passengers. Standard features include simulated leather seating, a large infotainment screen, Wi-Fi and wireless charging capabilities. Optional features available in some premium packages include an ELS audio system and CabinTalk, which allows you to easily communicate with backseat passengers through the MDX sound system.
Buick Enclave
- Model Year: 2022-2023
- Estimated Price: $23,926-$36,249
- MPG: 18/26 FWD, 17/25 AW
The Buick Enclave is a fantastic option for families, especially those with tall adults and children. It offers three-row seating that fits up to seven passengers. Unlike other SUVs, where third-row seating is cramped and uncomfortable, the Enclave’s back row is easily accessible and includes considerable legroom.
Standard features include LED lighting, an infotainment system and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Also included are tools to keep you safe, including lane-departure and blind spot monitoring.
