In the same way that a vineyard has good years and bad years for grapes, auto manufacturers can release a vehicle only to have it fall flat on arrival, then work out the kinks in the years to come until it’s worth your money.

GOBankingRates asked car expert Alex Black, the chief marketing officer at EpicVIN, what trucks might be better buys for consumers to purchase now due to upgrades and additions that make them match their price tags.

Here are Black’s picks for the four most improved trucks that are now worth your money.

2024 Ford F-150

  • Starting MSRP: $37,065

If you have been holding off on getting an F-150, wait no longer, as the 2024 model is everything you’d want in a Ford truck.

“The hybrid variant’s legit-improved gas mileage — middle of the 20s combined — good torque for hauling and the Pro Power Onboard makes it a generator on the go,” Black said. “Once a plain workhorse — now intelligent, efficient and versatile.”

2023-2024 Toyota Tundra

  • Starting MSRP: $39,965

With the Tundra, it’s all about the power and driving capability, which Toyota vastly improved upon in the past two years.

“[Toyota] eventually replaced the old V8 with a twin-turbo V6, and it is a success,” explained Black, noting that with more power, there was an improvement to the miles per gallon the Tundra could get.

“And the ride is smoother as a result of the new rear suspension,” he added. “Huge jump in technology as well — large screen, new interior. Much improved daily truck now.”

2024 Chevy Silverado 1500

  • Starting MSRP: $36,800

For a while, Chevrolet’s Silverado 1500 struggled to keep up with other trucks in its size, until last year’s model rolled out.

“The 2.7L turbo was a major step up,” Black said, adding that the 2024 Silverado 1500 comes with more torque, a more silent ride and enhanced towing. “The interior previously felt behind — now it looks and feels like you’re stepping into 2025. Safety technology also got a lift, particularly on LT and above.”

2023-2024 Nissan Frontier

According to Black, the 2023-2024 was a stealth upgrade that nobody saw coming from Nissan and now might be a top pick for those in the market for a truck.

“New engine, much improved interior and the ride is smoother than its predecessor,” Black said. “It previously had a dated feel — now it’s a respectable midsize contender if you can forgo full-size capability.”
