You can probably size up a nice exterior of a vehicle, but knowing which brands have good interiors requires a little bit more research. Though it sometimes can be a matter of taste, there are certain brands that are always being praised for how they look on the inside — and are durable enough to stay in good condition, too.

Here are the top interiors according to auto experts. Also, check out ways you can make your current vehicle’s interior feel a little more luxe.

2024 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

“During my on-and-off profession as an auto professional, I have spent a lot of time inside different vehicles over the past three years,” said Alex Johnson, CEO of Man and Van Star. “The S-Class has long set the standard for an interior that oozes luxury, and this is something the 2024 model continues in spades.”

Johnson said what makes this particular model special is the high tech features and eye-catching finishes. “It is made up of very high-quality materials, with premium Nappa leather and real wood trim in the cabin, and features an advanced MBUX system, which is very user-friendly and also beautiful looking when in use. Above everything else, its development, up to the stitching and ambient lighting, has been carried out with precision such that it’s genuinely a sanctuary on wheels.”

Alan Ollie Gelfand, owner of German Car Depot, agreed with Johnson, saying that the screens inside are especially impressive. “It can have up to five screens that work in conjunction with other tech in the car to create a three-dimensional effect, such as wireless audio, fingerprint scanning, facial recognition and voice-command functions. It also uses augmented reality to provide better directions.

“It also includes plenty of driver-assistance technologies that simplify driving. For example, the car has an autonomous parking capability and an active suspension system that raises the car in the event of a collision to reduce damage.”

Gelfand added that the S-Class has seats that make for a spa experience. “The car’s power-adjustable reclining seats feature massage features, and there’s plenty of head and leg room. In general, expect Mercedes cars to have the most reliable, aesthetically pleasing interiors. These cars often feature striking, high-quality interior designs with premium materials and driver-focused dashboard layouts.”

2023 Genesis GV80

Johnson said this model is notable for not only its gorgeous interior, but how well the interior holds up over time.

“The 2023 model is all about being minimalist yet luxurious, from quilted leather seats to open-pore wood and a clean, horizontal layout that’s easy on the eyes,” he said. “But what isn’t talked about much is how the interior material therein is made to remain in good condition over a long time, notwithstanding wear and tear. The idea is that luxury continues to be evident for years. More than its looks alone, the interior of GV80 is engineered to last.”

2025 Volvo XC90

If you’re looking for a sleek vehicle that also uses eco-friendly materials, this Volvo is a great pick. “The cabin exhibits lines that are clean and an airy feeling, adopting more sustainable materials, such as wool and recycled plastics,” Johnson said.

Johnson also highlighted the safety features included in the XC90’s system. “The real standout features are safety and comfort, what with its ergonomically designed seats and air purification system creating a healthy and comfortable driving experience. The XC90 interior, however, is not just pleasing but also carefully designed with the overall health of its passengers in mind over the long term.”

2025 Subaru Forester

Subaru has long been a favorite for those who like to drive to the great outdoors because of their fleet’s durability. B. Patrick Agnew Esq., a Virginia attorney who works on auto cases, said the Forester in particular has a fantastic interior that’s sure to impress.

“Subaru’s Forester offers premium cloth seats and soft-touch plastics that withstand heavy use while preventing damage,” he explained. “Exceptional value and all-wheel drive give the Forester a reputation for dependability in all conditions.”

2024 Mazda CX-50

Gelfand praised the CX-50, because it’s an affordable choice that still has a stellar interior. The SUV starts at $30,300, which is a pretty low cost for that type of car.

“Reliable interiors don’t have to mean breaking the bank,” Gelfand explained. “The Mazda CX-50 exemplifies affordable luxury well. It’s designed with purpose in mind without neglecting elegance and luxury features, giving the cabin a premium feel without the high price tag. The fit and finish of its interior are soft to the touch, and it is fairly quiet inside.”

Gelfand added that the CX-50’s seats have a lot of settings, so anyone riding will be comfortable. “The front seats are easily adjustable and have enough room for people of all heights.”
