Let’s face it: If you want to get a really cool car, the one with the latest features and most up to date upgrades, chances are you’ll need to throw down a lot of money.

That is, unless you are looking for a 2026 model this year that is under $30,000. Believe it or not, but this year there are tons of slick makes and models that you can get behind the wheel of without breaking the bank.

Here are the coolest new cars for under $30,000 in 2026.

Honda Civic

Matt Smith, U.S. content editor for CarGurus, highlighted that the 2026 Honda Civic has a starting price of $25,890 in its base trim, which includes destination.

“Factoring in all trim levels, however, the 2026 Civic on CarGurus currently has an average listing price below $27,000,” Smith shared, noting that it is well within the bounds of a potential buyer’s $30,000 budget. “We love the Civic for its excellent driving dynamics, impressive safety ratings and grown-up looks.”

Mazda MX-5 Miata

“The Mazda MX-5 Miata, which has a base price of approximately $29,000, offers excellent handling and dynamics with its lightweight construction, rear-wheel drive platform and robust aftermarket,” explained Ryan Salata, the marketing director of Proform Parts.

“The cooling and exhaust are usually the first things that get changed,” Salata commented. “But it’s no supercar-far from it, in fact-but its handling and driver impact is second to none.”

Toyota Corolla

For drivers looking for hybrid fuel efficiency, the 2026 Corolla is the best deal out there, according to Smith.

“Starting at $25,970 for an LE trim, it delivers 50 miles per gallon in combined driving,” he noted. “AWD is available for an extra $1,400 and only knocks efficiency down by a couple of MPGs. Simply put, the Corolla Hybrid provides the best combined value at the dealership and the gas pump.”

Subaru BRZ

Salata noted that the Subaru BRZ, which retails for $29,000 to $30,000 has a 228 horsepower of naturally aspirated power from the car’s boxed motor with a curb weight of just 2900 pounds.

“This makes for a wonderful platform to tune and slam into corners thanks to the massive amount of support they have from aftermarket manufactures,” he added.

Nissan Sentra

Smith pointed out that the new 2026 Nissan Sentra is a terrific value, particularly for shoppers who care more about tech and style than performance.

“The new Sentra upgrades its tech to modern standards with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and excellent functionality, and it’s standard on every trim level. Best yet, even a loaded, top-trim Sentra won’t exceed $30,000,” Smith described.
