New year, new SUV? That’s what tens of thousands of Americans scouring the internet for information on new SUVs may be wondering. Which new SUVs are shaping up to be the most appealing possibilities? And are the SUVs that are shaping up to be the most popular this year affordable?

A new report by eCarsTrade determined the most anticipated 2026 SUVs. The list was created by factoring monthly search volumes around keyword variations, and the following five SUVs were found to be those attracting the most interest. How much money do they cost, and what makes them so alluring?

Also see six affordable 2026 SUVs experts recommend.

5. 2026 Polestar 3

  • Online search volume: 600,320
  • Starting price: $67,500

Polestar, a relative newcomer in the gas-free vehicle space, set out to turn heads with the 2026 Polestar 3. High voltage, fast charge times and environmentally-friendly upholstery are just a few of this SUV’s standout traits. Could Polestar be the brand that gives Tesla the ultimate run for its money? Appropriately, there’s been some chatter about that.

4. 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9

  • Online search volume: 665,110
  • Starting price: $58,955

“Smooth, comfortable and graceful,” is how the Hyundai Ioniq 9 was described in a review on Autoweb. The roomy electric SUV has decadent tech gadgetry and slick aesthetics. It sounds like it could easily be priced higher than $60,000 (not that $60,000 is anything to sneeze at!).

3. 2026 Audi Q6 e-tron

  • Online search volume: 792,660
  • Starting price: $63,800

The 2026 Audi Q6 e-tron is attracting clicks for good reason. It’s one of the most lavish SUVs to date. Motortrend may have described it most effectively in its review that highlighted the following pros: “Sporty yet luxurious dynamics; lightning-quick charging; a potential bargain; looks like an AI Q5; stark, snug interior and mixed technology success.”

2. 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric

  • Online search volume: 910,910
  • Starting price: $109,000

Here’s where we have to wonder whether this list is a list of the most anticipated as in “interested in buying” or anticipated as in “I am interested but could never afford it.” The 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric costs nearly double the national average annual salary, so it’s likely that people are looking it up more from a place of awe than or purchase consideration. In their defense, this electric SUV does sound pretty awesome — and very fast. From a review in Car and Driver: “I’ve never ridden in a Cayenne that can launch to 60 mph in under three seconds, that’s for sure.”

1. 2026 Toyota RAV4

  • Online search volume: 1.43 million
  • Starting price: $31,900

By a landslide, the 2026 Toyota RAV 4 America’s is the most anticipated SUV. It’s also — again, by a landslide — the cheapest SUV on this list. A review published on Car and Driver highlighted the hybrid vehicle’s adept responsiveness, linear acceleration and its simple, convenient features, including a user-friendly touchscreen. It sounds like a great SUV — and a great deal.

Editor’s note: Vehicle starting prices were sourced from each car manufacturer’s website.
