Tesla Model Y 

The Tesla Model Y has undergone significant changes over the past year, with the latest model being more affordable.

The new Tesla Model Y has a smaller battery, a less powerful motor and the removal of premium features, like ambient lighting and the rear touchscreen. The new price reflects the downgrade in these changes. If you like the core features of the Tesla Model Y, 2026 can be a great time to make your purchase. 

“The Model Y is an entry-level luxury car, and it’s getting even less expensive in 2026 thanks to a stripped-down entry-level option,” said Melanie Musson, auto industry expert with AutoInsurance.org. “You’ll lose some of the luxury and range, but you’ll gain affordability and a technological experience you’ll have a hard time finding anywhere else.”

Lexus RX 450h+ Plug-In Hybrid 

The 2026 Lexus RX 450h+ base model will be cheaper compared to the 2025 model. The price adjustment reflects the removal of certain premium trim levels, like seat massage options, panoramic sunroofs and heads-up displays. You can add these items to the base model for an additional price.

Like Tesla, Lexus is trying to make their vehicles more affordable. If you had your eyes on the Lexus RX 450h+, consider purchasing the 2026 model. 

“The RX 450h+ Plug-In Hybrid will be less expensive in 2026,” said Musson. “This plug-in hybrid allows drivers to experience the benefits of an EV with the familiarity and range of a gas engine. Driving a Lexus is an experience, and it’s clear the 450h+ was made for drivers. It has a large, intuitive touchscreen, heated seats, luxury upholstery, and a sleek design.”

BMW 2 Series Grand Coupe

The BMW 2 Series Grand Coupe has a cheaper 2026 model. The new model will have front-wheel drive, which is less expensive than the all-wheel-drive models. By offering a less expensive base model, BMW hopes to make the 2 Series more accessible and affordable. As you start your search for a new car, don’t rule out the BMW 2 Series Grand Coupe if you are looking for a mix of luxury and affordability. 

“The Gran Coupe is coming out with two-wheel drive in 2026, so while most BMW models are getting more expensive, the entry-level, two-wheel-drive 2 Series Gran Coupe is getting cheaper,” said Musson.

Porsche Taycan

The 2026 Porsche Taycan is cheaper due to a high number of leases ending, rapid depreciation and a competitive luxury car market. Even though the listed base price is comparable to 2025, many dealers are offering large discounts on new models to move inventory. If you are interested in purchasing a Porsche Taycan, shop around for a dealership that is offering exclusive discounts. 

Cadillac Optiq

The Cadillac Optiq is expected to have a price drop in its 2026 model and add a new base-level trim option. With competition ramping up in the luxury car market, Cadillac is adjusting its prices to stay competitive.
