You don’t have to go full “crunchy” to be good for the environment – in fact, many luxury cars can help save Mother Earth.

GOBankingRates spoke to auto experts to get the full scoop on which cars are environmentally friendly, luxurious and affordable (for a high-quality EV).

Here are some high-end cars that are both a blast to drive and kind to the Earth.

BMW i5

Price: Starts at $66,800

This electric car is BMW’s new version of its popular 5-series. It has many eco-friendly parts. Aivaras Grigelevicius, an auto expert with carVertical, says: “The i5 is the first BMW model to feature a leather-free interior as standard. Additionally, the high-voltage battery cells consist of 10% recycled material. Furthermore, the alloy wheels are made from approximately 45% recycled aluminum, and the plastics in the floor trim contain approximately 25% recycled material.”

Porsche Taycan

Price: Starts at $99,400

The Taycan is Porsche’s electric car. It’s fun to drive and good for the environment – and although it’s a bit on the pricier side of affordable, it’s a great investment for those who love to drive in style.

Grigelevicius explains: “Porsche sources components and materials from suppliers that adhere to environmentally friendly practices, ensuring the entire supply chain is eco-friendly. The whole car production process is designed with sustainability in mind. Manufacturing plants use renewable energy sources, and the floor carpets, roof lining and dashboard trim can be made from recycled materials.”

Mercedes-Benz EQE

Price: $74,900

This car looks like it’s from the future. It also uses many recycled materials.

Grigelevicius says: “One hundred eighty-four components are made from resource-saving materials, including recycled plastics and renewable raw materials.”

Polestar 2

Price: Starts at $49,900

Polestar is a newer car company. Amazingly, its cars can be recycled when they’re old – and they’re a great price for a luxe EV.

Grigelevicius shares: “Eighty-five percent of it can be recycled after it reaches the end of its life. Due to this strategy, Polestar increases the majority of the components’ lifespans, reducing waste and CO2 emissions in the long run.”

Tesla Model S

Price: Starts at $66,490

Tesla makes only electric cars. It tries to use less water.

Alan Gelfand of German Car Depot says: “Since the inception of the car, Tesla has emphasized lower water consumption per vehicle during manufacturing, a crucial aspect for sustainability. The Tesla Model S features vegan leather seats and incorporates recycled materials extensively in its interior. The company has also committed to properly reusing and recycling battery packs when they reach the end of their lifespan.”

BMW i7

Price: Starts at $105,700

This is BMW’s bigger electric car. It uses a lot of recycled materials – and if you need a large EV that’s a good bang for your buck, this might be your choice.

Gelfand explains: “Since the i7 is an all-electric vehicle, it produces no tailpipe emissions, which helps reduce air pollution. In addition, a large quantity of the vehicle is made from natural and recycled materials. For instance, the aluminum used in its castings is sourced 50% from secondary markets, helping to cut CO2 emissions by about 80%.”

Jaguar I-PACE

Price: Starts at $73,275

This is Jaguar’s electric car. It was made to be good for the environment.

Gelfand says: “This car was designed with the environment in mind, featuring zero emissions that help minimize its environmental impact and carbon footprint for users.”
