As we look ahead to 2025, it’s clear that car prices are poised to shift, and if you’re in the market for a reliable vehicle, you might want to hold off for a bit.
With new models rolling out, the surge in electric vehicles (EVs) and an increase in inventory, we could see some significant price drops across popular car models.
4 SUVs That Will Have Massive Price Drops in Early 2025
The experts at CarEdge are predicting that new car prices will go down 3 to 5% by late next year.
Toyota Camry
The Toyota Camry has been a long-standing favorite for those seeking a reliable, no-nonsense sedan. Known for its longevity and low maintenance costs, the Camry consistently ranks high on reliability charts.
But here’s the good news: with Toyota potentially releasing newer models and leaning further into the EV market, older versions of the Camry could become more affordable. While the latest editions come packed with advanced tech, safety features and sleek designs, older models will still offer the Camry’s hallmark dependability at a more wallet-friendly price.
Ford Mustang Mach-E
The electric vehicle market is booming, and as more manufacturers roll out budget-friendly EVs, some current models will naturally become more affordable. The Ford Mustang Mach-E, an EV hit when it first came out, is likely to experience a price drop in 2025.Â
Ford already cut prices on the model earlier this year after a drop in sales, and a wave of new, cheaper EVs from Ford and other automakers will make older electric models, even popular ones like the Mach-E, more affordable. With many consumers waiting for better infrastructure and more EV options, older models will need to remain competitive on price to maintain interest.
Chevrolet Bolt
The Chevrolet Bolt, one of the first affordable EVs to hit the market, might also see a significant price reduction next year.
As competitors like Tesla, Hyundai and Kia release their own budget-friendly electric options, the Bolt’s older models will have to be discounted to stay in the game.
For those looking to get into an electric car without paying the hefty price tag of the latest models, the Bolt could be an excellent choice, especially considering its solid range and compact size. The 2022 and 2023 models in particular could offer fantastic value as they begin to populate the used market.
Nissan Leaf
Another EV that could see a price dip in 2025 is the Nissan Leaf. It’s a reliable option for those looking to transition to an all-electric lifestyle.
However, with advancements in battery technology and increasing competition from newer EVs, the Leaf’s older models will likely become much more affordable. With the car’s outdated ChaDeMo charger becoming harder to find, demand will drop, meaning dealerships could slash prices in 2025 to move inventory.
If you’re okay with a slightly older EV, you could score a Leaf at a great price while still enjoying the benefits of a low-cost, eco-friendly car.
Kia Forte
The Kia Forte has carved out a niche for itself as a budget-friendly, reliable sedan.
In 2025, GOBankingRates could see prices for the 2022 to 2024 models decrease as Kia pushes forward with new designs and features in the latest iterations, and the 2024 model is already on the Kelley Blue Book’s Cheapest Cars of 2024-2025 list.
If prices do drop, this already affordable sedan could become even more appealing to budget-conscious buyers.
