Recently, the auto-purchasing resource Kelley Blue Book reported that the average sale price for a new car spiked to an all-time high in December 2024. Not only that, but KBB also noted that the prices of used cars also bumped up a bit.
The auto guide also suggested that political uncertainty (and economic ambiguities) following the reelection of Donald Trump have rendered the auto industry’s future an unpredictable one, and car shoppers may wish to act quickly and buy cars now, while they can.
With that in mind — especially the fact that new car prices are at record-breaking highs — now might be the best time for car shoppers to save by purchasing bargain used cars rather than expensive new rides.
In the market for a new (to you) set of wheels? Check out the used cars below, which are some of the best bargain rides in the first quarter of 2025.
2016 Toyota Camry
- Starting MSRP: $14,851
While Kelley Blue Book suggested seeking out any Toyota Camry released from 2019 to 2025, Car Edge went a step further and recommended the 2016 model year of the Toyota Camry. Why? The 2016 Camry is both very comfortable and reliable — the ride is smooth, the interior is spacious and the fuel economy is fantastic.
2017 Subaru Forester
- Starting MSRP: $14,910
Per Car Edge, the Forester is a reliable ride that will get you from points A to B with all-wheel-drive, high safety ratings, a roomy interior and a versatility designed to withstand extreme elements and handle all weather conditions. All of which makes it a perfect vehicle for family travel.
2016 Honda Civic
- Starting MSRP: $13,700
The Civic may be low on frills, but it’s also a ride known for reliable fuel economy, comfort and a very affordable price.
2015 Honda CR-V
- Starting MSRP: $14,416
Want a compact car that still manages to provide a roomy interior with space left over for cargo? Need a reliable ride that will get you to where you need to go? Want a ride defined by its smoothness? Car Edge suggests the ’16 CR-V.
2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV
- Starting MSRP: $14,370
Being an all-electric vehicle (EV), the bolt allows you to really save at the gas pump. It also comes with great mileage range and surprising acceleration, with Car Edge noting it’s a perfect car for in-town driving.
