If you’re looking into buying a new-to-you car in 2026, you’re in luck.
“For buyers who have been waiting for the market to cool, 2026 is expected to offer much better purchasing opportunities than the last several years,” said Joe Giranda, the director of sales and marketing at CFR Classic.
Here’s a look at some vehicles experts say could dip in price in 2026.
Ford Mustang Mach-E
Giranda said it’s a good strategy to look at first-generation electric vehicles (EVs), as they depreciate in value quickly once new models are released. “Once more EVs become available, first-generation options like the Mach-E will likely be much more widely available at competitive prices in the used market,” he said.
A 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E starts at $37,995, according to Ford’s website. You can already find some 2025 used models on Carvana for slightly less.
Rob Delisa, founder of Car Lease Tips, agreed, saying pretty much any used EV is going to decrease in price come 2026 because the tax credits expired at the end of September.
“These tax credits drastically reduced the capitalized cost of the car, allowing shoppers to buy or lease cars they normally couldn’t afford. What is going to happen at the end of these leases when dealers can’t sell them anymore at the same price? Obviously, the price will be reduced,” he said.
Honda CR-V
The Honda CR-V is a really popular car, which Giranda said actually works to buyers’ advantage.
“The CR-V has remained among the top-selling units in its class and is expected to continue dominating the market. This also means there is a steady stream of off-lease units scheduled to return to dealerships. When there is higher availability, there is usually more competitive pricing for popular compact SUVs,” he said.
Dodge Ram 1500
If you’re looking for a truck, Giranda recommended looking at used Dodge Ram 1500 models, as more customers are interested in new trucks than used ones. “There continues to be extensive inventories of full-sized trucks due to strong new-truck sales over the last few years,” he explained.
Giranda said consumers’ interest in trucks in general has decreased, which could be good news for people who have their heart set on one. “Due to the high costs associated with owning trucks, fuel costs, and financing, demand has slowed, which may allow prices for used trucks to drop, including higher trim levels of the Ram 1500,” he said.
