There is no other car that defines the current moment like the Tesla Cybertruck. If you are a fan, you probably have one already. If you are not, you might never consider getting one, unless, of course, there is a good deal to be made. That might come in the form of purchasing a used Cybertruck.
Even though these vehicles are seemingly fresh to the roads, there are several models that have already racked up some miles and are on the used car market. In fact, according to Inside EVs, selling a used Cybertrucks takes twice as long as it used to a few months ago.

The Case for Buying a Used Tesla Cybertruck
Any used car will have depreciated from its original value the second it is driven off the lot, with Cybertrucks being no different. However, the state-of-the-art tech and performance features are still way ahead of the curve, which could make it a great deal overall to buy used.
“For tech-savvy individuals, a previously owned Tesla Cybertruck could make for an interesting buy, but there are a few things that require in-depth scrutiny,” explained Joe Giranda, the director of sales and marketing for CFR Classic. “For example, the Cybertruck’s electric powertrain provides instant torque, an excellent range and minimal maintenance requirements in comparison to traditional combustion truck models … Its stainless steel exterior not only has a futuristic design, but is also corrosion-resistant.”
Plus, there are always the benefits of buying used over new with any car. “Purchasing a used car also comes with the added advantage of reduced price,” Giranda said. “On top of that, it enables you to avoid the long wait times associated with new order placements.”
The Case Against Buying a Used Tesla Cybertruck
On the flip side, Giranda highlighted that there are also risks and uncertainties that come with buying early production models of Tesla Cybertrucks.
“It is apparent that Tesla’s first-gen vehicles have a track record of suffering from inconsistent build quality, panel gaps, software problems or some other complications,” Giranda said. “Depending on the previous owner’s charging habits, a used model may also have diminished battery life.”
Maintenance is also a consideration, according to Giranda. “Repairing issues related to the vehicle’s sophisticated electronics or exoskeletons made of stainless steel could come at a hefty price and could only be done by Tesla-approved shops and technicians,” he said.
To Buy or Not To Buy?
Every driver will have to weigh the factors that come with buying a Cybertruck, especially if it is a previously owned one. Will saving money by purchasing used be a good deal upfront, or will you have to actually spend more money on upkeep as the miles add up?
“You may want to ask a third-party to perform a comprehensive inspection of the used Tesla Cybertruck before purchasing it to avoid incurring extra costs,” Giranda said.
