Which 2025 SUVs Will Owners Want To Keep for 15 Years?

Did you spend your money on one of the nation’s most loved SUVs? A recent study from iSeeCars identified 10 SUV brands as among the most beloved in America. Toyota dominated the rankings with six SUV models. Other popular brands included Honda, Ford and Subaru.

Is loyalty enough to keep the 2025 models of these 10 SUVs for the next 15 years or more? The answer is yes, for nine of these models. (The Toyota Venza is not on this list due to the nameplate being discontinued after 2024.)

GOBankingRates did some research and sourced each 2025 manufacturer’s suggested retail price from Car and Driver to find out why these SUVs are worth the money.

• 2025 MSRP: $47,470 to $55,125

As the most loved SUV, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid boasts the highest percentage of 15-year-old cars kept by their original owners, at 7%. 

Several aspects of the Highlander Hybrid, like its spacious cabin and solid fuel economy, endear owners to these vehicles in the long-term. The SUV also comes equipped with a suite of safety features, like automated emergency braking and adaptive cruise control, to provide greatest protection to growing families over the years.

• 2025 MSRP: $40,970 to $53,375

Taking second place behind the Highlander Hybrid is the Toyota Highlander. Much like its Hybrid model, the Highlander features great fuel efficiency, plenty of space for cargo and seating for families and safety features that make it a practical, long-term investment. According to iSeeCars, 6.6% of original owners keep their Highlanders for 15 years or more. 

Used Highlanders are also highly sought out by interested buyers. A separate iSeeCars study revealed the Highlander ranked in 17th place out of 100 among the most popular used cars to buy in 2024.

• 2025 MSRP: $31,495 to $37,895

Americans who purchase the affordable, comfortable and practical Honda CR-V are very much in the mindset to keep this SUV for a long time to come. The percentage of CR-Vs that are kept for 15 years or longer is 6.3%. 

The CR-V is also ranked in 12th place as the most popular used car to buy in 2024, especially if you live in New York. According to iSeeCars, the CR-V makes up 2.5% of 1- to 5-year-old used car sales in the metropolitan area.

• 2025 MSRP: $33,985 to $39,895

Excellent fuel efficiency, comfort and reasonable pricing encourages drivers to buy and keep their Ford Escape Hybrids. The percentage of owners who keep these SUVs for 15 years or more is at 6.3%.

• 2025 MSRP: $30,245 – $39,950

In 2024, the Toyota RAV4 broke into the top 10 for popular used cars. The RAV4 took ninth place, accounting for 1.6% of total 1- to 5-year-old used car sales. About 6.2% of original owners keep their RAV4s for 15 years or more, thanks to the SUV on-road capability, overall comfort while driving and plenty of safety features for driver peace of mind.

• 2025 MSRP: $31,230 to $41,390

According to Car and Driver, the Subaru Forester has a specific formula — a flat-four engine, all-wheel drive, variable transmission and extra ground clearance — that is designed to ensure long-term driving success. The percentage of owners who keep this SUV for 15 years or more is 5.5%.

• 2025 MSRP: $41,650 to $56,030

Ranking in eighth place as one of the most loved SUVs is the sensible, family-friendly Honda Pilot. The SUV makes up 5% of 15-year-old cars kept by original owners.

• 2025 MSRP: $42,220 to $58,850

Drivers with more wiggle room in their budgets may be inclined to spend it on the newly updated Toyota 4Runner. Per Car and Driver, the 2025 SUV boasts five seats, revamped tech features and an attractive exterior. Once you purchase a 4Runner, chances are good you’ll keep it for many years. The percentage of 15-year-old or older 4Runners kept by their original owners is 4.8%.

• 2025 MSRP: $64,370 to $85,910

Though the Toyota Sequoia is easily the most expensive out of any of these models, investing in this full-size SUV now may mean not needing to buy a new car for a long time. About 4.7% of 15-year-old Sequoias are kept by their original owners.
