The next time you think about going on a Walmart shopping run for the remaining items on your holiday list, consider heading to Dollar Tree to reel in extra savings.
GOBankingRates reviewed some of Dollar Tree’s current holiday inventory and price matched to see which retailer offers shoppers the most savings. From tree toppers to holiday-themed cups and glasses, you might be surprised which eight Christmas items are much cheaper to buy at Dollar Tree.
Holiday-Themed Gift Buckets
- Price: $1.25
Need some cute containers to store baked goods during the holidays? Savvy shoppers will buy the two-pack of Christmas House holiday-themed gift buckets at Dollar Tree and spend just $1.25 for the set.
By comparison, a similar two-pack of Christmas treat buckets sold at Walmart retails for $9.85.
Winter Holiday Tumblers
- Price: $1.25
Sip all of your favorite holiday beverages from Dollar Tree’s winter holiday tumblers. Each inexpensive tumbler holds up to 16 ounces. They come in three colors and designs.Â
A similar sipper offering from the Holiday Time brand at Walmart is $2.98. The trade-off for shoppers who decide it’s worth it to spend $1.73 more is that these sippers are made of glass and come in a square shape compared to Dollar Tree’s round, plastic tumblers.
Stemless Champagne Flute
- Price: $1.25
If you just want a single stemless champagne flute and aren’t super particular about the design, head to Dollar Tree to buy the Christmas Cheer stemless champagne flutes à la carte.Â
At Walmart, most of these flutes are sold in sets of four or more. Buying a single champagne flute will put you back $5.92 when shopping for it online.
Chocolate-Scented Moose Plush
- Price: $1.25
If you’re shopping for a moose plush for stocking stuffers, Dollar Tree is the best place to buy one (or more).
Compared to the Aurora mini moose stuffed animals sold at Walmart for $9.16 each, Dollar Tree’s plushes are a little bigger (measuring 7×12 inches), cheaper (to the tune of $7.91 less) and scented like chocolate. How sweet are those savings?
Snowflake-Printed Stocking
- Price: $1.25
Is it cheaper to buy a snowflake-printed stocking from Walmart or Dollar Tree?Â
The winner is Dollar Tree, where these Christmas House stockings are just $1.25. Similar Holiday Time stockings sold at Walmart are $6.98. For that price, Dollar Tree shoppers could purchase five of the Christmas House stockings and have a little change left over.
Plush Santa Hats With Fur Cuffs
- Price: $1.25
Dressing for a fun holiday party? Grab a Santa hat at Dollar Tree instead of Walmart.Â
Both hats measure 17 inches and feature the white pom pom and fur cuffs. You would end up paying $2.98 at Walmart for essentially the same Santa Claus hat.
Metallic Snowflake Tree Skirts
- Price: $5
While we’re not surprised to see tree skirts among Walmart’s holiday best sellers, it’s definitely possible to find them cheaper at Dollar Tree.Â
At Dollar Tree, a 38-inch snowflake Christmas tree skirt is $5 while Walmart prices a similar offering at $9.46. What’s more, this price tag reflects the 30-inch tree skirt. For a 35-inch tree skirt, shoppers pay $13.69. Both of these sizes are still a lot smaller, and increasingly more expensive, than what Dollar Tree offers.
Glittery Metal Mini Star Tree Toppers
- Price: $1.25
Here at GOBankingRates, we love a good dupe deal and might have found the jackpot in cheap tree toppers. The star-shaped tree toppers sold by the Christmas House and Holiday Time brands are both reasonably priced, but it’s a better deal to buy these toppers at Dollar Tree. You’ll spend $1.25 compared to Walmart’s $4.86 retail price.Â
As a bonus, you can shop both the silver and gold colors while supplies last at Dollar Tree. (The silver tree toppers are currently sold out on the Walmart website.)
