Well, discount stores in general and Dollar Tree in particular. For Dollar Tree superfans, this means a trip (or several!) to stock up on winter essentials at unbeatable prices. GOBankingRates talked to two of these Dollar Tree superfans to find out what’s filling their carts right now.
Here are eight items that Dollar Tree enthusiasts are stocking up on before winter hits.
Batteries
Cynthia Ford, a Dollar Tree superfan and receptionist at AZ Health Insurance Brokers, thinks that Dollar Tree is the place for batteries. With shorter days and potential power outages, having a good supply of batteries on hand is important. At just $1.25 per pack, it’s a no-brainer to pick up several packs to be ready for winter.
Canned Soups and Vegetables
Ford also likes to stock up on canned soups and vegetables at Dollar Tree. These non-perishable items are perfect for quick, warm meals during cold winter days.
They’re also great to have on hand in case of unexpected snow days or if you’re unable to get to the grocery store. Dollar Tree’s variety of canned goods allows you to build a diverse pantry without going broke in the process.
Winter Hats
Winter time equals snuggly clothing and accessories time. First order of business? Hats!
“I always stock up on winter hats from the Dollar Tree before winter starts,” Ford shared. “These hats are such a bargain and the best things to keep in your vehicle or tucked away in a bag because you never know when that wind will suddenly pick up or the temperature will suddenly drop. The best thing you can do is be prepared for when it does!”
Halloween Crafts
Budgeting expert Andrea Woroch recommends picking up Halloween crafts for kids.
“These will sell out and are great for little parties you may have at school!” she shared. Dollar Tree’s selection of affordable Halloween-themed craft supplies can keep kids entertained during chilly autumn days and help create festive decorations for the season.
Holiday Cookie Tins
Woroch also suggests stocking up on holiday cookie tins. “These are a great way to pack up your favorite homemade seasonal treats,” she said. “You can hand these out as gifts to loved ones, teachers, neighbors and hostesses on the cheap without feeling cheap!” These versatile containers are perfect for holiday gifting and can be reused for storage throughout the year.
Nail Polish in Darker Shades
For those looking to update their look for the season, Woroch recommends nail polish in darker shades. “You can’t get much cheaper than $1.25 per nail polish!” she points out. “I find that nail polish goes bad over time anyway and I get sick of certain colors so I like to avoid spending a lot and switch up shades often especially when it comes to a bold, trendy color like blue or green since you may not wear it often.”
This affordable option allows you to experiment with seasonal colors without a big investment.
Stocking Stuffers
Getting a head start on holiday shopping is always a good idea, and Woroch suggests picking up stocking stuffers at Dollar Tree.
She recommends “a range of small toys, lip gloss, hair ties, small craft kids, craft supplies, crayons and sticker booklets.” As she notes, “This is one easy thing I can check off my holiday shopping list early and know I have it ready to go when it’s time to stuff the stockings!”
Winter Car Essentials
Dollar Tree superfans stock up on all their winter car essentials before the weather starts to turn. Items like ice scrapers, small snow shovels, and windshield de-icer fluid are often available at Dollar Tree.
If you live in a place where it snows, you know these can be a lifesaver during unexpected winter weather. At just $1.25 each, you cannot afford to not pick up extras to keep in your car or give to family members.
