If you’re the kind of person who watches horror movies all year round, or whose goth phase never quite ended when high school did, or happens to live on a block where neighbors try to out-decorate each other, the odds are you’re very aware of when Halloween goodies go on sale.

However, not all budget-friendly deals are created equal this spooky season, and even people who have a regular store they love, like Walmart, might want to consider venturing elsewhere, like Dollar Tree. Here are four Halloween items that are a better deal at Dollar Tree.

Skeleton Decor 

Is it truly Halloween without skeletons hanging from door knobs or rising out of your azalea bushes? Any haunted house simply isn’t complete without the dead man’s bones. However, you’re likely to find cheaper options at Dollar Tree, such as the 23.5′ plastic hanging skeleton for only $1.50. 

While the Walmart skeletons on sale are no slouch (unless you took out some of their vertebrae, of course), they are, by and large, more expensive. The 24-inch poseable skeleton isn’t a bad deal at only $9.98, but it’ll cost you a few more bones than at Dollar Tree.

Seasonal Drinkware

The only thing better than a Halloween party is a Halloween party with spooktacularly cool drinkware. Both Walmart and Dollar Tree offer one-of-a-kind options that guests might be tempted to sneak off to their own homes. However, the Halloween drinking canteens with straws at Dollar Tree are priced at only $1.50 a piece, while a glass pumpkin mug four-pack at Walmart costs $15.51.

Spooky Serving Trays

Whether you’re leaving candy out for the neighborhood kids or the grown-ups gathered at your Halloween party, you’ll need a serving tray that gets everyone in a ghoulishly good mood. Walmart does offer one with a beautifully rendered Halloween scene for $9.96, but you can find a much cheaper option at Dollar Tree in the Halloween candy-inspired plastic serving trays. It’s a scary-good price of $1.50. 

Candy

There’s no trick or treating without the treats, and if you want to be the cool house on the block, you’d better get good ones. You can find the candy that will hopefully protect you from the trick part of the equation at both Walmart and Dollar Tree. 

While Walmart does offer candy options in bulk, standard-sized options, such as a 9-ounce bag of Reese’s Pieces, will cost $5.97. At Dollar Tree, a 9.9-ounce bag of Reese’s costs $4.75, which is a small savings, but will really add up when eating candy by the pound.
