We’re already midway through August, but there are still plenty of awesome budget-friendly sales happening across a number of retail categories. RetailMeNot’s team of savings experts analyzed in-house retail data to see industry averages of which categories are the smartest to shop in the remainder of the month. 

These are the five categories of items you should consider buying now, according to RetailMeNot (who shared this data with GOBankingRates). How much do you stand to save, on average?

Camping Gear and Fishing Equipment  

• Average discount: 17% off 

If you’re in the market for camping gear or fishing gear, the next couple weeks are a great time to buy. Prices on these items often surge in summer, given high demand, but now that the season is winding down, retailers are keen on clearing out inventory. RetailMeNot recommended heading to Academy Sports + Outdoors, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s to scope out sales in these departments.  

Back-to-School or Office Supplies 

• Average discount: 17% off 

Back-to-school season is upon us. If you haven’t already stocked up on the necessary office supplies (think pens, notebooks and possibly even printers), head over to Office Depot, Staples, CVS or Target, where RetailMeNot is seeing solid savings opportunities. 

Fall Clothing

• Average discount: 19% off 

• If you live in a location that is experiencing intense heat waves, you may not want to even think about buying cozy fall apparel. But now is a great time to shop for these essentials if you want to save. RetailMeNot recommended checking out sales at Forever 21, maurices, Carter’s and Disney Store for excellent deals. 

Computers and Electronics

• Average discount: 20%

If you’re looking to replace your tablet or invest in a new laptop or pair of headphones, the remainder of August is a prime time to shop (unless you want to wait until Black Friday). Drop by Apple, Best Buy, LG, Lenovo or Samsung for the best deals on these items.

Warm-Weather Shoes

• Average discount: 22% off 

You should hit the pause button on buying boots and other shoes that are ideal for fall and winter, as you won’t find many jaw-dropping sales there. But if you’re interested in sandals and slides, act now while some retailers are featuring clearance sales on these items. RetailMeNot recommended seeing what sort of savings Nike, adidas, Reebok or PUMA are offering.
