Old Navy has become a major player in the apparel space. The retailer opened its first store in 1994 to massive success. The company’s core mission statement: Sell “fabulous, affordable” fashion for everyone.
Though Old Navy largely lives up to this promise, that doesn’t mean that all its items are priced low; in fact, some items in the women’s department at Old Navy can be kind of pricey.
Let’s look at the most expensive items for men and women at Old Navy in December. How much do they cost?
50-Pack of Women’s Flip-Flop Sandals
Do you need new flip-flop sandals for summer? Do you need some backup pairs, too? How about 49 backup pairs? Well, if you’re in the market for 50 pairs of flip-flops sold as one gigantic set, Old Navy has you covered — for $150. That works out to $3 a pair. That’s not a bad deal, but it also isn’t unheard of; you can buy a single pair of flip-flop sandals for that price (and even about 30 cents less) at Walmart.
6-Pack of Women’s Leggings
Old Navy has the High-Waisted Leggings 6-Pack for Women marked as a “best seller.” That’s somewhat surprising, given that the set costs $84.99 — a lot more than what you could pay at, say, Amazon, which sells a six-pack of fleece leggings for $34.99.
Women’s Quilted Puffer Jacket
Admittedly, the Water-Resistant Quilted Long Puffer Jacket (available in warm taupe or black jack) at Old Navy looks pretty cozy, and it’s machine washable, so you’ll save on your dry cleaning bill. And though $84.99 is not an unusually high price for such a heavy-duty piece of apparel, it’s also not a steal. You can find similar items on Amazon for substantially less.
Women’s Water-Resistant Twill Coat
If you’re looking for something that will hold up against wind and rain but isn’t overtly engineered for freezing weather, you might like the Water-Resistant Twill Coat at Old Navy. But do you want to spend $79.99 on it? Maybe not when you consider that you can get a similar item — in a wider variety of colors (the Old Navy option only comes in one shade, a neutral beige) — for at least $10 less on Amazon.
6-Pack of Women’s Biker Shorts
Stocking up on workout apparel for the new year? The High-Waisted Biker Shorts 6-Pack for Women with 8-inch inseam could be exactly what you had in mind. But $69.99 is an awful lot to spend on this sort of thing. You can get a similar item, available in a four-pack, for $27.99 on Amazon. That’s two pairs of shorts less, but even if you bought two sets (eight pairs total), you’d still spend less than you would on the six-pack at Old Navy.
Men’s Quilted Jacket
The men’s Water-Resistant Quilted Barn Jacket is the second most expensive item in the men’s department at Old Navy this December, priced at $64.99. It comes in a medium tan shade. This isn’t a terribly high price, but there’s an ample variety of more affordable options to be found on Amazon.
Men’s Sherpa-Lined Parka
The Water-Resistant Sherpa-Lined Parka is the most expensive men’s item available at Old Navy right now. It’s priced at $119.99, though on sale for a limited time for $47.99. Given that this is a high-quality piece of apparel that should stand the test of repeated winters, this is a pretty good deal — though there is only one color available: black jack.
Editor’s note: Pricing and availability may vary depending on location.
