When you’re shopping on a budget, every dollar counts, especially at a store like Aldi, where affordable finds and limited-time seasonal products can make it feel like you’re scoring a deal every time you walk in.

If you have just $20 in your wallet, what should you buy this April? GOBankingRates asked a few shopping and personal finance experts to weigh in with their top picks from Aldi this April.

Crofton Easter Appetizer Plates

  • Price: $9.99

If you love celebrating holidays with a little extra flair, you’ll want to check out Aldi’s Crofton Easter appetizer plates. Shaped like Easter eggs but designed with a subtle, elegant style, they bring an upscale touch to your springtime table without needing to overspend.

“There’s something upscale about using dishes specifically for holidays,” says Melanie Musson, a personal finance expert with Clearsurance.com. “But just because something feels upscale doesn’t mean it has to cost a fortune.”

A four-pack costs $9.99, so you can snag two sets for under $20.

Raised Garden Planters

  • Price: $19.99

Aldi’s raised growing planters are a seasonal favorite, especially for anyone wanting to start a spring garden on a budget. “These $20 raised planters do as good a job as planter frames that cost five times as much,” Musson said.

If you’ve been dreaming about growing herbs or veggies this spring, this is your chance to do it affordably.

Spring-Shaped Chicken Nuggets

  • Price: $6.29

A fun twist on a kid favorite, Aldi’s spring nuggets come shaped like flowers, bunnies and more, making mealtime more festive.

“If you or your kids like chicken nuggets, these spring-shaped nuggets are likely to be a seasonal hit,” Musson said. “At $6.29 for a 24-pack, they’re a tasty (and fun) way to stretch your grocery dollars this April.”

Stock Up on Seasonal Produce and Everyday Essentials

Seasonal decor and limited-time food items are tempting, but savvy Aldi shoppers also know how to build a well-rounded grocery haul with just $20. Aaron Razon, a financial expert with Coupon Snake, shared his top picks.

“With a $20 shopping budget, seasonal produce, dairy products and dog treats always top the list of my priorities when shopping at Aldi this April,” Razon said.

Here’s how he broke it down.

  • Seasonal produce: One pint of fresh blueberries and a pound of strawberries for about $6.
  • Dairy: One block of cheese, a gallon of milk and a container of Greek yogurt for approximately $8.
  • Pet treats: One pack each of Heart to Tail dog treats and beef stick dog treats for about $10.

“You get more value while staying within your budget,” he said. “Plus, by shopping for seasonal produce from Aldi, you get to support local farmers.”
