Costco is often the No. 1 spot to stock up on spring cleaning items and save money. While you can find great deals on bulk cleaning products, not everything has received great reviews from Costco shoppers.
Here are six spring cleaning items you should avoid putting on your Costco shopping list.
Kirkland Signature Oxi Powder
- Price: $13.99
Spring weather brings warmer days, but it also means rain and mud. There are plenty of multipurpose laundry stain removers, but the Oxi Powder laundry booster from Kirkland Signature didn’t receive the best reviews. The biggest complaint from Costco customers was its strong scent. Shoppers also pointed out that it was not comparable to OxiClean.Â
Boulder Clean Disinfectant Cleaner in Fresh Lemon
- Price: $23.99
If you’re doing a substantial amount of cleaning, you’ll most likely get a better deal if you buy cleaning products in bulk. However, some shoppers have warned to stay away from the Boulder Clean disinfectant cleaner — specifically the fresh lemon scent.
On Costco’s website, several reviews claimed it smelled terrible, and others were generally not impressed by the product.
Twist & Shout Spin Mop and Bucket System
- Price: $47.99
Spin mops are typically affordable and easy to use, but you may want to avoid the Twist & Shout spin mop and bucket system. In one review, a Costco customer claimed that their mop handle snapped in half during the first use and left streaks on the floor.
Similar reviews from other shoppers also mentioned the mop handle breaking.
Tineco Go 205 Cordless Stick Vacuum
- Price: $149.99
Costco sells a variety of vacuums — handheld, upright, canister, robot, etc. — but the Tineco Go 205 cordless stick vacuum with cleaning attachments received mixed reviews.
Some shoppers pointed out that it was heavier than expected. Others added that it wasn’t very strong and the short battery life may be better suited for smaller spaces.
Fresh Wave Odor Removing Gel
- Price: $19.99
The Fresh Wave odor removing gel is another spring cleaning product that received positive and negative reviews on Costco’s website. While many stated that it worked, others declared it did not remove unwanted odors in their homes.Â
Dr. Jacobs Naturals Pure Castile Soap
- Price: $29.49
Costco sells two different variety packs of the Dr. Jacobs Naturals Pure Castile Soap, but both received a fair amount of one-star reviews. Shoppers pointed out that it doesn’t compare to Dr. Bronner’s, is heavily fragranced and has a watery consistency.
