Spring is ripe with possibilities — many of which have to do with sprucing up outdoor spaces. And Walmart probably has what you need. However, before you commence with spring shopping, it’s important to know what items aren’t worth the money.
While Walmart has thousands upon thousands of satisfactory products, here are a few that should be left behind.
Fake Boston Fern Greenery
- Price: $9.50
For those who don’t have a green thumb but want to give their landscaping or outdoor planters a spring refresh, these bundles of no-fade, fake Boston fern greenery designed for the outdoors seem like the perfect alternative.
However, these particular bundles of greenery disappointed shoppers, with more than one reviewer stating that the bundles are tiny and extremely fake in appearance.Â
Sunflower Welcome Door Mat
- Price: $7.30
Shoppers who are looking for a cheerful welcome mat to place outdoors should pass on this sunflower welcome door mat. Reviewers describe it as cheap-looking, flimsy, thin and not suitable for outdoor use, with one reviewer commenting that it looks and feels like a kitchen rug.Â
Mini Gear-Driven Oscillating Sprinkler
- Price: $23.99
Spring is the time to support grass growth as it comes out of winter dormancy, and a sprinkler can help. In theory, this Aqua Joe oscillating sprinkler sounds wonderful with 20 clog-resistant rubber nozzles, maximum coverage area of 4,250 square feet and a spray width up to 59 feet.
However, there’s a major design flaw, according to dozens of reviewers. The plastic ring that connects the hose to the sprinkler base leaks and eventually comes off, rendering it useless.
Spring Wreath
- Price: $11.58
A seasonal wreath is the perfect touch to brighten up your front door, and Walmart has plenty of them. Shoppers may want to avoid this 18-inch faux-flower spring wreath, however. Unfortunately, some reviewers were disappointed, claiming the wreath is cheap-looking, made of plastic and looks nothing like the picture.Â
Peeps Rice Krispies Treats-Flavored Chicks
- Price: $1.47
These Peeps-brand Rice Krispies Treats-flavored marshmallow chicks have misled more than one Walmart shopper. Apparently, shoppers either love them or hate them because the current reviews are almost all five stars or one star.
The one-star reviews are based on shoppers who expected these to be chick-shaped Peeps filled with Rice Krispies or traditional Rice Krispies treats in the shape of chicks, not Rice Krispie-flavored marshmallow chicks. Another complaint is about the flavor. Reviewers stated that they either were flavorless or tasted like nothing but sugar.Â
