Though COVID-19 has changed how and when we travel, there will come a time when you’ll be ready to take your next vacation again, and you probably don’t want to stretch your budget too thin in order to do so. GOBankingRates compiled a list of the most popular (and costly) vacation destinations in the U.S. While these prices might put most people off, for others, knowing that these destinations are probably worth their cost may make it worth the price to visit.
GOBankingRates reviewed Travel and Leisure’s list of “The 50 Best Places to Travel in 2021,” Town and Country’s July 2020 piece “Best Weekend Getaways” during COVID-19 and AirDNA’s list of the places with the highest average daily rental rates of 2019. Methodology: GOBankingRates began by compiling a list of 80 of the most popular (and costly) vacation destinations in the U.S. To do this, GOBankingRates reviewed Travel and Leisure’s list of “The 50 Best Places to Travel in 2021,” Town and Country’s July 2020 piece “Best Weekend Getaways” during COVID-19 and AirDNA’s list of the cities with the highest average daily rental rates of 2019. Then, using AirDNA’s data, GOBankingRates found the average daily rate for a rental property in each city. AirDNA’s rental rate estimates are based on data gathered in the prior 12-month period by scraping data on every listing on Airbnb and Vrbo, as well as working with partnered property management systems. All data was gathered on and up to date as of Jan. 13, 2021.
