A recent survey from PayrollOrg indicates that 92% of those surveyed use direct deposit as a way to receive their wages. If you use Chime®*, you’re eligible to receive direct deposits into your checking and savings accounts. Confused about the process? Here’s how to set up a direct deposit with Chime.

Steps To Set Up Direct Deposit With Chime

Setting up a direct deposit is relatively simple. You’ll need to provide your banking information to your employer and they will take it from there. Here’s a step-by-step guide to set up Chime direct deposits.

1. Have Your Routing Number, Account Numbers and Direct Deposit Form Ready

Find your routing number and bank account numbers, as well as the direct deposit form. Here’s how to find them:

  • Chime mobile app: Open the app and tap on “Settings,” then “Account Info.”
  • On the Chime website: Log in at chime.com and click “Settings,” then “Account Info.”
  • Direct deposit form: Download the direct deposit form after clicking Settings and Move Money while logged into the Chime website.

Here’s a detailed guide on how to get the Chime direct deposit form.

How To Find the Chime Direct Deposit Form

There are two ways to get your Chime Direct Deposit form. Keep in mind that you cannot get a direct deposit form in a physical branch because Chime is completely online.

With the mobile app, do the following:

  1. Open the Chime app and navigate to “Move Money.”
  2. Select “Set Up Direct Deposit.”
  3. Tap the completed form to receive a pre-filled direct deposit form.

On the Chime website or app:

  1. Access the “Settings” section.
  2. Choose “Move Money” and get your completed form.
  3. You will give that form to your employer.

2. Download the Direct Deposit Form

Download the Chime direct deposit form or request one from your employer. The next section will cover where to find the form and how to complete it.

3. Choose Your Account

Designate whether you’d like 100% of your direct deposits to go into one account or if you’d like to send part of the deposit to two different accounts.

4. Sign Your Direct Deposit Form

Complete the form and sign it.

5. Give Your Direct Deposit Form to Your Employer

You can send it electronically via email, through your employer’s portal or give it to human resources in person.

6. Confirm Your Direct Deposit With Your Employer

Make sure your direct deposit form is received by your employer and will be initiated by your company.

How To Get a Voided Check from Chime

Although Chime doesn’t issue paper checks, you can access a voided check online. Go to the “Getting Started” section and navigate to “Set Up Direct Deposit.” The voided check will be a part of the downloaded form. You simply print out a check, and with a black pen, write the words VOID across it. Do not sign this document.

You may not always need a voided check. Instead, you can pull the direct deposit form online, fill it out and submit it to your employer.

Chime Address for Direct Deposit

Chime doesn’t require you to mail your direct deposit form to them. You can access the direct deposit form online at Chime.com or the app, navigate to “Settings” and click on “Move Money,” and complete the form.

You can submit your direct deposit form to your employer either through email, your employer’s online portal or in-person to your human resources department.

When Does Chime Direct Deposit Hit?

Your Chime direct deposit will typically hit at 9 a.m. on the morning of your payday. Sometimes, the direct deposit can hit as early as midnight. On their website, Chime cautions that the exact time of when your direct deposit will hit can vary. Chime does allow for early direct deposit with Early Pay1, which means you may be eligible to receive the direct deposit two days before your scheduled payday.

A direct deposit can be delayed due to holidays and weekends. The Automated Clearing House, or ACH, doesn’t process direct deposits on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Common Issues and Troubleshooting for Chime Direct Deposit

If your direct deposit fails to appear in your account, here is a checklist of items to consider:

  • Check for delays: Processing can be delayed due to weekends, federal holidays and your employer’s payroll schedule.
  • Verify processing times: If you recently set up your Chime direct deposit, wait at least one to two cycles to see if your direct deposit has hit your account.
  • Confirm account details: Make sure your routing and account numbers are correct. Incorrect information can delay your direct deposit.
  • Check if Chime is undergoing service issues: Sometimes, transactions can be slightly delayed if Chime is undergoing maintenance or updating the website.
  • Contact your employer: Double-check with your employer to find out if they have the correct information and have initiated the direct deposit.

How To Check Your Direct Deposit Status on Chime

You can check your direct deposit with Chime on the website or mobile app. On the website, you will log in to your account and review the “Statements” section to check for pending transactions.

In the app, you can log in to your account and click “Activity.” Underneath the “Activity” tab, pending deposits2 will be in gray, and available funds will appear in green.

If you need help with your direct deposit, you can reach out via your app or over the phone.

  • Mobile app: Click on the “Help” tab and navigate to the “Chat With Us” to access a customer service representative.
  • Phone: You can also call 1-844-244-6363 to speak with a Chime representative.
