There’s no shortage of items for sale demanding your attention — and the money in your wallet — when you walk into a Dollar Tree. From picnic essentials for Fourth of July cookouts to decorations for weddings and gifts for Father’s Day celebrations, you might find yourself wondering where to allocate the extra money in your budget if you want to pick up a few seasonal impulse buys.
GOBankingRates spoke to a Dollar Tree representative who shared their recommendations for best buys to make at Dollar Tree this June. Keep reading for our two runners-up and winning Dollar Tree buys.
Runner-Up: Personal Care Aloe After Sun Gel
Quite a few Americans shop at Dollar Tree for sun protection products. In a May 2024 GOBankingRates survey polling 999 Americans, 33% of Dollar Tree shoppers said sunscreen and lotions are among their Dollar Tree summertime must-buys.Â
At $1.25 per bottle, aloe gel by Personal Care is significantly cheaper than competing brands like up & up at Target ($5.99) and Banana Boat ($8.99 at CVS Pharmacy). If you haven’t already bought aloe ahead of Summer 2024, it’s not a bad idea to stock up on a few bottles at Dollar Tree to have on hand in the event of sunburns.
Runner-Up: PIC Bugable Mosquito Wipes
If you reside in a humid region, you know firsthand just how important it is to have mosquito repellent during summer. You also likely know the ouch of a typical mosquito repellent spray’s price tag, which can be upwards of $8 or more at big-box stores like Target and Walmart.Â
Consumers may shop the affordable alternative of PIC Bugable mosquito wipes priced at $1.25 per package at Dollar Tree. Each package includes two wipes that may be applied on the skin and even clothes to keep itchy mosquitoes away. For those concerned about deet, all wipes are deet-free and made from a botanical formula.Â
Winner: Speed Stick Deodorant
Dollar Tree’s robust inventory of Speed Stick deodorant was ranked the winner for several reasons.Â
As always, we consider the price tag ($1.25) unmatched by competing retailers. Walmart came close with their men’s Speed Stick deodorant priced at $2.47, but at that price, you could afford nearly two Speed Sticks at Dollar Tree.
Additional factors considered were the timeliness of the summer season (the limit does not exist for freshening up) and that Dollar Tree’s inventory included men’s Speed Stick and Lady Speed Stick deodorants.Â
But it was noted that these deodorants come in 1.8-ounce and 1.4-ounce sizes that clinched the win. In the same GOBankingRates survey, 33% of respondents said they shop for travel-sized items during the summer at Dollar Tree. Whether you need a full-size or a travel-size deodorant this summer, this is your sign to shop here for less.
