This Labor Day, Americans are shopping for food. In a May 2024 GOBankingRates survey, 53% of Americans said they planned to spend their money buying food during Labor Day weekend.Â
BJ’s Wholesale Club members will be excited to find that many bulk groceries, including waffles, mac and cheese, and snacks, are eligible for special coupon offers. Once the coupon has been clipped, BJ’s members save extra money on their purchase. Best of all, many items on sale make great buys ahead of back-to-school shopping season to pack school lunches and gift college students moving into dorms.
But shoppers will want to hurry because these sales end on September 2. Ahead of Labor Day weekend, see which 10 items you should buy at BJ’s Wholesale Club.
Eggo Blueberry Waffles Family Pack
- Price: $13.49Â
Breakfast is served with a side of savings. BJ’s members who apply the $2-off coupon to their Eggo blueberry waffles purchase will be able to snag these 60-count waffles for $11.49. This comes out to spending just $0.19 per waffle.
Smucker’s Peanut Butter and Grape Jelly Uncrustables
- Price: $19.99
For the mornings that you’re in a rush to pack school lunches, Smucker’s Uncrustables are here to save the day.Â
BJ’s members can clip the $3-off coupon and pay $16.99 for 18 large peanut butter and grape jelly flavored Uncrustables. This means shoppers wind up paying only $0.94 for each Uncrustable in the box.
StarKist Chunk Light Tuna in Water Pouches
- Price:Â $11.49
Mix up school lunches with tuna sandwiches or salads. These tuna pouches are regularly priced at $11.49 per pouch, but BJ’s members can apply the $2-off coupon and pay $9.49 for the set of 10.
After seeing those numbers, you can probably guess the price of each tuna pouch is $1 or less. Members pay about $0.95 each, which is much cheaper compared with the price at big-box retailers like Target, where the same StarKist tuna is $1.49 per pouch.
Polly-O String Cheese
- Price: $10.99
BJ’s is running several sales on snackable cheese now through September 2. After careful review, GOBankingRates determined the Polly-O string cheese brand gives BJ’s shoppers the most bang for their buck.Â
BJ’s members can clip the coupon to receive $2 off each 36-count package. Each individually packaged string cheese would then come out to about $0.25. In comparison, Sargento cheddar cheese snacks are also on sale for $1.50 off. While the sale price would bring the total down to $6.49, there are just 24 cheese snacks in every package compared with Polly-O’s 36.
Wellsley Farms Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola Bars
- Price:Â $10.79
Stock up on Wellsley Farms chewy chocolate chip granola bars for all your snacking needs while the sale is on at BJ’s. Members can put the $1.50-off coupon toward their purchase, bringing the total down to $9.29. With 60 bars inside, BJ’s shoppers pay only about $0.15 per granola bar.
GoGo SqueeZ Fruit & VeggieZ Applesauce Pouches
- Price: $14.99
For tiny tots who need softer snack or lunch options, add a box of GoGo SqueeZ applesauce pouches to your BJ’s shopping cart. Each applesauce pouch has one-third a cup of fruit and veggies inside. The 24-pack includes two flavors, with 12 speedy strawberry and 12 bowlin’ blueberry.
Once BJ’s members apply the $3 coupon to their purchase, the total drops to $11.99. After doing a little math, you’ll see that this comes out to paying $0.50 for each applesauce pouch.
Kraft Original Macaroni & Cheese Dinners
- Price:Â $15.49
Be the hero of your student’s campus dorm (or your household!) when you shop the 18-pack of Kraft macaroni and cheese dinners at BJ’s.
Regularly priced at $15.49, BJ’s members who apply the $2.50 discount will be able to buy the set for $12.99. This brings the cost of each blue box down to $0.72 — a lot cheaper than what you’d find for sale at big-box retailers. (Target, for example, regularly prices each Kraft mac and cheese dinner at $1.39 per box.)
Totino’s Pepperoni Pizza Rolls
- Price:Â $14.99
Totino’s pepperoni pizza rolls are the quick, easy and cheap meal your freezer needs on the days you don’t feel like cooking dinner. Once BJ’s members apply the $2.75-off coupon to their purchase, the total cost is just $12.24 for a 160-count box.
Mott’s Fruit Flavored Snacks
- Price: $12.99
GOBankingRates did a little price matching to see if it’s a better deal to buy Mott’s fruit flavored snacks or Welch’s mixed fruit snacks at BJ’s. Both boxes contain 90 snacks and come with coupons to clip.
The winner turned out to be Mott’s by just a few cents. Shoppers who clip the $2.75 coupon pay about $0.11 cents per fruit snack, whereas those who purchase Welch’s, with its regular price of $14.99 and $3 off coupon, will pay $0.13 per snack pouch.
Kool-Aid Jammers Soft Drink Variety Pack
- Price: $9.29
Don’t forget about drinks for lunch boxes! BJ’s members receive $1.50 off the Kool-Aid Jammers variety pack after clipping the coupon, which brings the total down to $7.79. Each package includes 40 Jammers in 10 cherry, 10 grape, 10 tropical punch and 10 strawberry kiwi flavors.Â
Prices are accurate as of August 9, 2024. Prices and availability may vary by location.
