Savvy shoppers who want to save money on their summer shopping list are price matching to see which retailer gives them the most bang for their buck. Two retailers that boast low prices, Dollar Tree and Walmart, often go toe-to-toe with one another for the best deals.Â
Try as Walmart might with their rollback promotions, there are some items they can’t price cheaper than Dollar Tree. Take a look at the five summer items to buy at Dollar Tree for the biggest savings.
Aviator Sunglasses
- Price: $1.50
Dollar Tree’s aviator sunglasses are among some of the most affordable aviators we’ve seen sold anywhere.Â
Similar frames from Joopin are on sale online at Walmart for $13.99 per pair and regularly priced at $24. This means Dollar Tree shoppers save a minimum of $12.49 and as much as $22.50 purchasing sunglasses.
Pink Plastic Flamingos
- Price: $1.25
If you have a specific number of plastic pink flamingos you’re planning to buy, Dollar Tree is the place to shop.Â
The Syncfun brand at Walmart currently carries pink flamingos in a six-pack for $15.99, which comes out to spending $2.67 for each iconic yard decoration. Dollar Tree shoppers can get up to two plastic flamingos for that price.
Metallic Palm Tree Balloon Weight Centerpieces
- Price: $1.25
The palm tree centerpieces sold at Dollar Tree act as both centerpieces with metallic leaves and balloon weights to help anchor balloons in place.Â
By comparison, a similar luau palm tree from Beistle costs $10.89 online at Walmart. While it displays nicely as a centerpiece, it doesn’t have the same dual function to act as a balloon weight.
Child Swim Goggles
- Price: $1.25
The children’s swim goggles are an in-store purchase only at Dollar Tree, so you might need to visit a few locations before you find them.Â
It’s worth it though, because EyePop’s children’s swim goggles cost $3 per pair at Walmart. That’s the cost of two pairs of swim goggles from Dollar Tree.
Outdoor Fun Sand-N-Swim Inflatable Beach Ball
- Price: $1.25
We were surprised that inflatable beach balls turn out to be a better bargain at Dollar Tree than at Walmart.
As wildly popular as Bluescape’s inflatable beach and pool balls are, they cost $5 apiece. And that’s before you pay for taxes and shipping to place the order online. It just makes good financial sense to shop the beach balls sold at Dollar Tree to receive up to $3.75 in savings.
