A $10 budget at Dollar Tree can buy as many as eight items that cost $1.25 and six items if the prices are marked at $1.50. If your August plan for saving money means shopping for a mix of both prices, you’ll be able to buy up to seven items and stay under the $10 threshold.
GOBankingRates is helping you shop by pulling seven recommendations worth buying with back-to-school supplies and fall essentials included in the mix. Consider adding one (or more) of these items to your Dollar Tree shopping cart.
Crayons
- Price: $1.25
We’ve yet to find a 48-count box of crayons cheaper to buy anywhere else.
By comparison, a 48-count box of Crayola crayons at Target costs $2.99 — nearly $1.75 more than at Dollar Tree. If you need to cut costs on the school supply list, add a box to your shopping cart.
Jot Pink Beveled Erasers
- Price: $1.25
Most retailers carry two- or three-packs of beveled erasers, with prices starting anywhere from 49 cents for a pack of two to $1 for three. A six-count pack at Dollar Tree comes out to spending 21 cents per eraser, giving shoppers a lot more bang for their buck.
O Ring Binder
- Price: $1.25
We knew we wanted to include these 1-inch binders after a rave review from shopper Micci praised their low prices.
Our online sleuthing revealed Dollar Tree is still the cheapest place to find this binder style circa summer 2025. Choose from four bright colors while supplies last.
Wide-Ruled Spiralbound Notebook
- Price: $1.25
Stock up on wide-ruled spiral notebooks ahead of the school year and save money doing it. In a five-star review, shopper Kaymac73 noted that these 120-sheet notebooks last roughly three months, which is more than half a typical school semester.
You can put half of your $10 shopping budget toward these notebooks. Five dollars buys up to four notebooks while $10 buys eight.
Student Planner
- Price: $1.25
Organize the next semester, and school year, using a 2025-26 student planner.
“These are great for students (and teachers, too)! I hope I can find them at my local store. If not, I’ll be buying several online so that I can give some away to my students next month as the new school year begins,” wrote ct99 in a five-star review.
Halloween Paper Lanterns
- Price: $1.50
Whether you want to stock up on Halloween buys early or celebrate Summerween, there’s no bad time to buy these Halloween-themed paper lanterns. Available in spooky designs like ghosts and bats, these lanterns use two AAA batteries (not included) to light up and cast an ambient spell indoors as well as outdoors.
“I bought these around four years ago and they have lasted!” wrote MedicWife. “Cheap enough to replace if one gets smashed or ripped, but I go back every year to check out for newer designs. They store very well and last a long time. I highly recommend for fun decor for the Halloween season!”
Harvest-Themed Oval Platters
- Price: $1.50
These harvest-themed oval platters are perfect for all sorts of appetizers and baked goods, from desserts for a class bake sale to hors d’oeuvres to enjoy before Thanksgiving. Choose from patterns featuring leaves or pumpkins or buy both and spend just $3.
