Even the best vehicles won’t reach their full potential if not cared for properly. The same can be said for the Tesla Cybertruck. Many owners wonder how they can push their Cybertruck to 300,000 miles or more without major issues.

To get some tips, GOBankingRates asked Ruth Calkins, an auto expert at Find by Plate. Here are practical tips she shared.

Stick To the Maintenance Schedule

Tesla may market the Cybertruck as a low-maintenance vehicle compared with gas-powered trucks, but that doesn’t mean you can skip regular checkups. Calkins explained that one of the biggest mistakes she sees is waiting until something breaks before scheduling a service appointment.

“When it comes to maintenance, many owners make the mistake of waiting until something is broken before considering a fix,” she said. “By failing to take the proactive road that is following Tesla’s recommended maintenance schedule, owners are inadvertently cutting miles off the lifespan of their Cybertruck.”

Park in Shaded Areas Whenever Possible

Heat is one of the biggest threats to your Cybertruck’s long-term health. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight doesn’t just fade the exterior but also can accelerate battery degradation. Choosing where you park can make a surprising difference over the years.

“Simple habits like being mindful of where you park your Cybertruck can add miles to your vehicle’s lifespan,” Calkins said. “By making sure to always park in shaded areas, you will be ensuring that your battery doesn’t degrade faster than it should. That way, you help your Cybertruck reach 300K miles.”

Keep Up With Regular Software Updates

Unlike traditional vehicles, the Cybertruck is constantly evolving through software updates. These updates don’t just add convenience features. They also improve safety and system efficiency. Skipping or delaying them could mean missing out on upgrades that directly impact the vehicle’s durability.

“One of the many advantages of owning a Tesla Cybertruck is its regular software updates. However, this advantage, when not properly utilized, can quickly become a disadvantage, as delaying updates can cost you new features and safety enhancements and potentially shorten the lifespan of your Cybertruck,” Calkins said.

Adopt Responsible Driving Habits

How you drive matters just as much as how you maintain your truck. Harsh driving habits create unnecessary stress, which can shorten the car’s lifespan.

“Your driving habits and style directly impact the performance and lifespan of your Cybertruck. By avoiding hard braking, sharp turns and sudden acceleration, you will be helping to reduce the stress on these components and helping your truck reach 300K miles,” Calkins said.
