Many Japanese car models remain among the best-selling vehicles in the United States. However, due to decreased demand for some of those models, they may see big price drops in the winter of 2025.
Here are five Japanese cars that auto experts told GOBankingRates are expected to see such price drops.
Nissan Altima
Even though you can buy a new one this year, it almost feels like you’re buying an old car because the Nissan Altima is being discontinued, according to Melanie Musson, an auto industry expert with AutoInsurance.org.
Musson said the prices will drop because consumer interest is waning. As the year continues, you can expect price drops to entice buyers to purchase the last remaining Altimas.
Honda Passport
The Honda Passport isn’t being cut from Honda’s lineup, but it is being redesigned, per Musson. As a result, this winter could be an ideal time to purchase a 2025 model, she said.
Many people are holding out for the new model, but the current model is reliable, stylish and could become even more affordable.
Toyota bZ4X
Electric cars are where you’ll find some of the best deals this winter, Musson said. The Toyota bZ4X is one example.
“Vehicles on lots are costing dealers, so if they get too many of a make and model, they will do what they can to move those vehicles,” Musson said. “The bZ4K isn’t popular. People love Toyota for their ICE engines, and their electric vehicles haven’t demonstrated the same level of excellence in manufacturing.”
Musson added that dealers will be trying to move these vehicles, and you can expect lower prices and more incentives.
Toyota Crown Signia
According to Lauren Fix from Car Coach Reports, “Japanese cars are projected to experience significant price drops in the winter of 2025 due to factors such as increased tariffs, shifting consumer preferences and market saturation.”
Fix said the Toyota Crown Signia is one of those models that might see a notable drop in price this winter.
Honda Accord
According to Fix, one reason some Japanese cars may see massive price drops in the winter of 2025 is that they’ve faced challenges in gaining traction: “The Honda Accord, a staple in the midsize sedan market, is anticipated to experience decreased demand, contributing to lower prices. Overall trends suggest that winter 2025 may present opportunities for buyers to acquire Japanese vehicles at more accessible prices.”
