It’s a well known fact that cars start to depreciate in value the moment they are driven off the lot. The price drops because wear and tear, along with milage, has already started to take effect. However, if you are buying a luxury car, you might be making an investment in your future where your car only goes up in terms of what it is worth.
Emil Sultanov, car buying expert with LongTermCar, shared his thoughts with GOBankingRates on several luxury cars expected to see a rise in value between now and 2029, along with their price details and reasons for their anticipated appreciation.
Porsche 911 (992) GT3
“The Porsche 911 GT3, especially the 992 generation, has an MSRP starting around $160,000,” Sultanov said. “Historically, GT3 models have held their value exceptionally well, with older models appreciating significantly.”
According to Sultanov, GT3 is renowned for its track-oriented performance, naturally aspirated engine and manual transmission option, which are becoming rarer in modern cars.
“Limited production numbers and Porsche’s strong brand heritage contribute to its desirability and potential for appreciation,” he said.
Ferrari 488 Pista
Sultanov explained how the Ferrari 488 Pista has an MSRP starting around $350,000, but that limited production and high demand have already seen these cars sell for well above their original price on the secondary market.
“The 488 Pista represents one of Ferrari’s last mid-engine V8s before transitioning to hybrid technology,” he said. “Its exceptional performance, limited production run and iconic Ferrari badge make it a prime candidate for appreciation.”
Lamborghini Aventador SVJ
Limited production and a renowned status as one of the final V12-powered Lamborghinis have already led to strong resale values, putting the Aventador SVJ at the average starting price of $520,000.
“As Lamborghini moves towards hybrid and electric models, the Aventador SVJ, with its naturally aspirated V12 engine and extreme performance capabilities, will likely become a collector’s item,” Sultanov said.
McLaren 765LT
The McLaren 765LT starts around $375,000. The Longtail models have consistently been sought after for their limited numbers and enhanced performance.
The 765LT is one of McLaren’s most powerful and advanced models, offering a blend of performance and exclusivity. Its limited production run and the brand’s focus on high-performance engineering make it a future classic.
Aston Martin DBS Superleggera
The DBS Superleggera has an MSRP starting around $316,000 due to its “blend of luxury, performance and striking design [that has] kept it in high demand,” Sultanov said.
“As Aston Martin continues to evolve, the DBS Superleggera’s combination of a powerful V12 engine and elegant design will likely make it a coveted model,” he said. “Its rarity and the brand’s storied history enhance its potential for appreciation.”
Bentley Continental GT Speed
Sultanov explained the Continental GT Speed starts around $240,000.
“Bentley’s reputation for luxury and performance has ensured strong resale values for previous models,” he said.
“The Continental GT Speed offers an exceptional driving experience with its powerful W12 engine and luxurious interior,” Sultanov said. “Its limited production and the increasing rarity of high-performance, luxury grand tourers contribute to its appreciation potential.”
Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series
“Historically, Black Series models have been highly collectible due to their performance enhancements and exclusivity,” Sultanov said, who explained this Mercedes starts at around $325,000.
“The GT Black Series is the pinnacle of Mercedes-AMG engineering, offering extreme performance and limited availability,” he said.
As a flagship model, Sultanov explained how the GT Black Series “…represents the ultimate in AMG performance, making it a desirable collector’s item.”
Even Higher Appreciation Expected
“These luxury cars are expected to appreciate in value due to their limited production runs, exceptional performance and the unique characteristics that set them apart in the market,” Sultanov said.
“As automakers continue to innovate and shift towards new technologies, these models — representing the pinnacle of their respective brands — are likely to become highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike,” he said.
