Whether you’re shopping for clothes, accessories or home items, getting rewarded for your spending is one way to reduce the dent on your budget a little. It’s especially appealing given the elevated 3% Consumer Price Index that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported for January 2025, alongside further concerns about tariffs impacting prices.

Many department stores have loyalty programs that offer something back per dollar spent and include other money-saving perks, such as free shipping, discounts and special sales. While some require the store’s credit card, others offer the flexibility to earn with any payment method.

Here are six of the best department store loyalty programs with valuable perks.

Kohl’s Rewards

Kohl’s stands out for its generous rewards program that lets you earn Kohl’s Cash for your purchases with a low $5 minimum payout.

You can sign up online for Kohl’s Rewards, earn 5% back without needing the store’s branded credit card, and enjoy personalized savings offers and a birthday gift reward.

If you do get a Kohl’s credit card, your rewards rate goes up to 7.5% for purchases made with it. Plus, you’ll gain access to free shipping events, monthly savings events and an anniversary gift.

Macy’s Star Rewards

The Macy’s Star Rewards program features four tiers with increasing benefits. While the base Bronze tier offers one point per dollar spent and requires no Macy’s card, the program is most lucrative if you’re a cardholder who can meet a minimum annual spending threshold to move to the higher tiers.

The Silver tier doubles your rewards rate and provides special savings passes with $1 to $499 spent annually, while you get three points per dollar with the Gold tier by spending $500 to $1,199 annually. Bigger spenders reach the Platinum tier and earn five points per dollar with the store’s card.

You get a $10 Star Money reward once you earn 1,000 points. Plus, all tiers provide a birthday gift, bonus points days, member exclusives and some free shipping perk.

JCPenney Rewards

With the JCPenney Rewards program, you get a single point per dollar when you don’t use a JCPenney credit card and 1.5 points when you use one, up to 2,000 points per transaction. You need 200 points to get the minimum $10 in CashPass Rewards.

The department store provides other perks for all members, including a $10 birthday gift, special coupons and bonus events. The program’s page also advertises a $10 welcome reward as of March 7.

The Nordy Club

If you’re someone who likes shopping at Nordstrom, you can enjoy various fashion and beauty benefits by joining the Nordy Club program.

Without a Nordstrom card, you start at the Member level, earn one point per dollar spent and enjoy free two-day shipping, beauty perks, early clearance access and more. With a Nordstrom card or $500 in annual spending, you reach the Influencer tier with double points days, style events and up to three points per dollar spent. Bigger spenders reach the Ambassador level with exclusives such as invitation events and in-home stylist services.

The Nordy Club pays out in Nordstrom Notes, with 1,000 points equaling $10.

TJX Rewards

The TJX Rewards program covers multiple retailers, including Marshalls, HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, Homesense and Sierra. While you do need to use a TJX Rewards credit card to participate, the program gives you a 10% welcome coupon for use in person and offers a 5% rewards rate for purchases at the family of stores and 1% elsewhere.

You’ll receive your first $10 Reward Certificate after reaching 1,000 points. Other TJX Rewards perks include special shopping events, brand surprises, free shipping deals and monthly entries to gift card sweepstakes.

Bloomingdale’s Loyallist Rewards

Bloomingdale’s Loyallist Rewards program is accessible to all but offers the biggest perks to those who spend at least $5,000 to $15,000 per year and have one of the store’s credit cards. There are three tiers — Loyalist, Top of the List and Top of the List Unlocked — which share benefits such as free shipping, personalized offers and extra point days.

You get one point per dollar spent as a non-Bloomingdale’s cardholder on any tier, while your rewards rate can range from three to 10 points per dollar spent as a cardholder. The higher tiers have more perks, including free gift wrapping, unlimited return periods, early sale access and free local delivery.

You can get a $25 Bloomingdale’s reward once you earn 5,000 points.
