Over the years, Target has become the go-to shopping destination for almost anything you need. There are plenty of great deals on seasonal and everyday essentials, but you could save money on certain items by purchasing them elsewhere.
To make it easier, here are five fall items at Target that aren’t worth your money.
If you end up shopping at the popular retailer, here are nine little luxuries you should buy from Target this fall.
Holiday Decorations
Whether you’re grabbing some last-minute Halloween decorations or stocking up on Christmas lights and decor early this year, you could be spending more by shopping at Target.
Right now, you can find sales on a range of holiday decorations, but you may find better places online.
For example, this six-foot inflatable Halloween decoration is $65.99 at Target — on sale. The same item is nearly half the price on Amazon.com.
Pumpkins
Fresh carving pumpkins are $5.49 each at Target, versus $4.50 at Walmart. While this isn’t a big price difference, it can add up if you plan to purchase multiple pumpkins.
And if you want something a little less traditional, like a white pumpkin, The Krazy Coupon Lady found the best deals at Walmart. Most other stores charged double Walmart’s prices.
Party Supplies
Target has a range of party supplies geared towards fall, from balloons to paper plates and garlands. But you won’t find the best prices here.
Party City and Michaels often sell seasonal party supplies at low prices and even offer coupons. You can also try Dollar Tree, which sells most party supplies for $1.25 each.
Books
Looking for your next cozy fall read? Target has a small selection of books where you can typically find best-sellers.
If you want something a little less popular or don’t want to wait for books to go on sale, you may have better luck on Amazon.com or at your local library.
Charcuterie Board
Target sells a highly-rated charcuterie board on its website for $14.79. It includes slow-aged Italian Dry and Calabrese salami, white cheddar cheese, multigrain crackers, olives and dark chocolate-covered cranberries.
This is definitely a mouth-watering charcuterie experience, but the 12.5-ounce board may not last long if you’re having a large holiday gathering.
The Kitchn put together the “Ultimate Costco Charcuterie Board” with enough food to feed a small army, including cured meats, cheese, dips and spreads, fresh fruit and veggies, nuts, dried fruit and bread. The total came to nearly $70, but it averaged to under $6 per person.
Editor’s note: Prices are accurate as of Oct. 17, 2024. Prices and availability may vary by location.
