With prices already slashed from their full-retail counterparts, Nordstrom Rack is a top destination for shoppers looking to stretch their fashion budget, but there are tricks to saving even more money. With a new season just around the corner, building a summer wardrobe for less is about understanding what those tricks are.
GOBankingRates spoke with two shopping experts to find out how to stack savings and walk away with high-end looks for even less this summer.
Shop ‘Clear the Rack’ Events
According to Jeanel Alvarado, founder of RetailBoss, the biggest savings happen during Nordstrom Rack’s recurring ‘Clear the Rack’ sales. “Events happen four to six times yearly, with summer-focused sales set for May and July,” she said.
That extra 25% can push total savings past the $100 mark fast, especially when shopping for multiple pieces.
Stack Promo Codes for Extra Savings
Don’t settle for just one discount. Alvarado recommended combining seasonal deals with codes like EXTRA25 for further clearance discounts (25%) or FREESHIP for free shipping on orders of $89 or more.
Many shoppers overlook these last-step savings, but they can make a noticeable difference at checkout.
Filter for ‘Under $50’ Deals
One of the easiest ways to land summer bargains is to filter early, according Melanie Musson, retail finance expert with Clearsurance.com.
“Check out Nordstrom Rack’s ‘Under 50’ filter,” she said. “Most of these options are heavily discounted. For example, you can find several selections of summery dresses that are $70 to $100 off.”
Use Nordy Club Notes
Another trick for slashing summer wardrobe costs is loyalty rewards. “Earn Nordy Club ‘notes,’ the retailer’s version of loyalty points, by signing up for a Nordstrom credit card and getting a $40 bonus note,” Alvarado said.
Points rack up at one to three per dollar and once 1,000 points are earned, shoppers receive a $10 note. New cardholders can score that $40 bonus upfront — enough to cover a pair of sandals or take the edge off a higher-end summer dress.
Look for Clearance Designer Sunglasses
Musson also pointed to accessories as an overlooked savings area. “Sunglasses are another way to save over $100 if you choose something from the Clearance Sunglasses category,” she said. “Several designer sunglasses that originally cost as much as $500 are reduced to around $100.”
Budget Time To Dig
Big savings require patience, according to Musson. “Saving money on a summer wardrobe is all about sifting through the discounted selections,” she said. “Not everything will come in your size, so it may take a little bit more time to complete your wardrobe, but your time investment will pay off with major savings.”
The smart approach: time it right, use the filters, stack every deal possible and don’t rush. Nordstrom Rack has the deals — finding them just takes a plan.
