Most of Costco’s offerings are available only to members — including access to its beloved food court. However, there are still some discounts you can access at the warehouse club without shelling out $60 for an annual membership.
Here are three things you can buy at Costco, even if you are not a member.
Alcohol
In certain states, you can purchase alcohol at Costco without being a member. That’s because local laws in these states prevent membership-only clubs from withholding alcohol sales from the general public, CNET reported. According to the news site, you can purchase alcohol from Costco without a membership in the following states:
- Arizona
- California
- Colorado
- Connecticut
- Delaware
- Hawaii
- Indiana
- Kentucky
- Massachusetts
- Michigan
- Minnesota
- New York
- Texas
- Vermont
Prescriptions
Everyone in every state can enjoy discounted prescriptions at Costco’s pharmacy, even if you are not a member.
“You don’t need to be a Costco member to purchase Costco Pharmacy prescriptions online or at our warehouses,” Costco’s customer service site states. “Our Pharmacy counter will accept several different forms of payment, including cash, debit/ATM cards, Costco Shop Cards and Visa.”
Eye Exams
You do not need to be a Costco member to book an appointment with one of Costco’s in-house optometrists, according to Costco’s customer service site. However, you do need to be a member to purchase glasses or contact lenses.
