Name-brand products aren’t always the best in terms of quality. Plus, they’re often more expensive than their store-brand counterparts.

According to The Dinner Daily, generic brands can save shoppers 25% to 30% over name-brand products. To test this, TikTok user @thegarybird compared name-brand and store-brand products at Walmart and found that his shopping cart with only store-brand items was $43 cheaper.

“I went to Walmart to see how much I could save by buying generic brand groceries over name brands,” he wrote. “I think you can totally save hundreds of dollars a month by not buying name brands.”

To get the best bang for your buck, here are the top Walmart essentials that you shouldn’t buy anywhere else.

Sam’s Choice Purified Drinking Water

“Sam’s purified drinking water in the 28 pack bottles blue plastic wrap is the best water you will ever drink,” wrote Redditor Bbop512. For only $4.97, this 28-pack of Sam’s Choice 20-ounce plastic water bottles is a better deal than what you’d find at dollar stores, but shoppers on Walmart.com said they’re difficult to find in stock.

Great Value Premium Original Shells and Cheese

Some say Great Value’s boxed macaroni and cheese is even superior to the Kraft and Velveeta versions and at a better price. This 12-ounce box of Premium Original Shells and Cheese includes three servings of dried shell pasta and a pouch of real liquid cheddar cheese.
