As we make our way through fall, most of us see our spending start to increase. With holiday meals to prepare and Christmas shopping to finish, expenses tend to be higher during the last couple of months than at any other time of the year.Â
However, you can help keep your expenses down this fall by taking advantage of the great deals available at places like Dollar Tree, Aldi and Walmart.
Here are some of GOBankingRates’ favorite deals you don’t want to miss.
Autumn Goodies
Nothing says the holidays more than having sweet treats around the house.
And while it might not quite be time for Christmas cookies, there are some great autumn treats you should be adding to your shopping cart the next time you’re at Aldi:
- Bake Shop Raspberry Strip Danish: $3.95
- Bake Shop Pumpkin Cake Roll: $5.45
- Bake Shop Cinnamon Sweet Rolls: $3.85
- Specially Selected Chocolate Lave Cakes: $3.29
- Specially Selected Chocolate Chip Brioche Loaf: $5.25
Large Aluminum Roasting Pans
Have you ever started preparing your Thanksgiving meal only to realize you forgot to pick up the disposable roasting pan? It’s happened to me, and it’s not the ideal situation.
To avoid this happening, make sure you pick up a couple of large aluminum roasting pans at Dollar Tree for just $1.25 each.
Christmas Ornaments
Depending on where you shop, Christmas ornaments can get pretty expensive. However, it’s fun to add something new to the tree each year.
If you want to pick up an inexpensive ornament before Christmas, look no further than Walmart. They have nativity ornaments for just 19 cents when purchased online.
Foldable Duffel Bag
If you’re planning to travel over the holidays and your luggage has seen better days, look no further than Walmart. They’re currently selling foldable travel duffel bags starting at just $1.99.
There are several different colors available to choose from. While the quality isn’t going to be as high as some major brands, it’s hard to pass up luggage for this low price.
Flannel Sheets
If you have guests coming to spend the holidays, make sure there is some holiday cheer in their bedroom with these holiday-themed flannel sheets. Full size sets are just $16.99 at Aldi.
Stripped Rugs
One of the easiest and cheapest ways to update the feel of a room is by adding a new rug.
Dollar Tree has this 15-inch-by-21-inch striped rug for just $1.25. There are several different colors to choose from.
Gel Air Freshener
Want to make your home smell good for the holidays? Dollar Tree has Rejoice gel air fresheners in Mountain Pine scent for just $1.25 each.
Great Value Devils Food Chocolate Cake Mix
One of my biggest guilty pleasures around the holidays is sweets. My family loves to bake some recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation, but we also love to try new items.
One of those new items last year were cake balls dipped in dark chocolate. Because they were a hit with everyone, they’ll be back again this year.
However, this year will be a little cheaper because Walmart is selling Great Value chocolate cake mix for just $1.12 per box.
Halloween Trick or Treat Basket
If your child needs a new trick-or-treat basket, don’t wait until next year when the prices are high. Take advantage of after-Halloween sales by picking one up at Walmart. They’re currently being sold for as little as 69 cents each.
Suede Slippers
As the weather starts getting cooler, your home might get a little chilly. Keep your feet warm this winter with a new pair of suede faux fur-lined slippers from Aldi, available for just $12.99.
Holiday Meal Essentials
With Thanksgiving only a few weeks away, now is the time to start stocking up on some of the non-perishable items you’ll need for your meal.
Walmart has some of the best prices you’re going to find on many of your traditional staples:
- Great Value Canned Pumpkin: $1.17
- Great Value Brown Gravy Mix: 32 cents
- Idahoan Buttery Homestyle Mashed Potatoes: $1.44
- Ocean Spray Jellied Cranberry Sauce: $1.98
- Great Value Cut Green Beans: 50 cents
- Great Value Spice Cake: $1.84
Editor’s note: Prices are accurate as of Nov. 12, 2024. Prices and availability may vary by location.
