Members of the Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union — or NEFCU — can agree on one thing: Once they “GO Green,” they’ll never go back to another high-interest checking account again.
So-named because it allows depositors to “get green,” sending them in the direction of better personal wealth and big yields, the GO Green Checking Account from NEFCU comes backed by not just a competitive 2.53% APY, but a host of other features, too.
Checking Account Interest Rates: Terms and Conditions
The minimum deposit required to open a GO Green Checking Account with NEFCU is just 1 cent; $25,000 is the maximum amount allowed to earn the 2.53% rate; balances in excess of this will revert to a still-competitive 0.50% APY.
Here, “GO Green” has a double meaning. The product is designed for credit union members who bank electronically and save paper in the process. Some monthly requirements to qualify for this account include:
- Complete 12 debit card transactions with a minimum transaction amount of $5 (this doesn’t include ATM transactions)
- Sign-up for monthly e-statements
- Sign up for direct deposit
- Maintain an active, free online bill payment account with at least one bill per month
