Getting ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, but don’t want to go broke during the festivities? You’ve come to the right place. GOBankingRates price matched Dollar Tree’s St. Patrick’s Day inventory compared to items sold on the Walmart website to determine where shoppers save the most money.
Not surprisingly, it’s a lot cheaper to shop for these five St. Patrick’s Day essentials at Dollar Tree than it is at Walmart. Pocket a little more green (your cash!) when you shop for these five St. Patrick’s Day items.
St. Patrick’s Day Patterned Low-Cut Socks
- Price: $1.25
If you’re looking for low-cut socks with St. Patrick’s Day patterns, your best bet is to shop for a pair in-store at Dollar Tree.Â
The Way To Celebrate brand at Walmart only carries mid-crew length socks for $3.97 per pair. You could buy three pairs of St. Patty’s socks at Dollar Tree for that price!
Juncture St. Patty’s Day Scarves
- Price: $1.25
Dollar Tree shoppers may need to visit their nearest location in-store to buy a Juncture St. Patty’s Day scarf, but they’ll save $2.23 compared to Way To Celebrate’s pricing for similar bandanas sold at Walmart. As a bonus, you can choose from an assortment of scarf patterns, including shamrocks and gold coins.
St. Patrick’s Day Handing Tinsel Shamrocks
- Price: $1.25
We were surprised to see that tinsel shamrock décor costs a little less at Dollar Tree than at Walmart where similar wall decorations retail online for $2.99 each.Â
There’s even a wider selection of cheap and festive designs to shop beyond the shamrocks, including pots of gold and rainbows to decorate your home, office, classroom and more spaces. These decorations are available for in-store purchase only at Dollar Tree.
Green Plastic Utensils
- Price: $1.25
Throwing a St. Patty’s party? On the surface, it would appear that Way To Celebrate’s party cutlery is a better deal than Dollar Tree’s green plastic utensils.Â
Let’s dig deeper. The cutlery from Way To Celebrate comes in 24 piece sets for 97 cents. If you wanted 48 plastic forks, spoons and knives, you’d spend $1.94. It’s not too much money, but it’s still a little more than paying $1.25 at Dollar Tree where the green plasticware is already completely packaged with 48 pieces.Â
Famous-Maker Pilsner Pub Glasses
- Price: $1.25
What’s a St. Patrick’s Day celebration without green-tinted beverages? Snag a 19-ounce Pilsner glass from Dollar Tree for just $1.25 each.
At Walmart, the Better Homes & Gardens Pilsner glasses may measure at 20 ounces, but they cost $2.98 apiece online.
