Can ChatGPT be used to find specific shopping deals? The truth is, when prompted to find up-to-the-minute information, ChatGPT can’t always be relied on. GOBankingRates put it to the test and asked what the best deals at Target were at the time of publishing.
Here are the items actually worth buying, plus some Target-specific shopping tips ChatGPT offered.
1. Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive Disposable Diapers
- Price: Starting at $47.99
It’s no secret diapers are a major expense for parents. ChatGPT found an incredible deal on Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive Disposable Diapers at Target right now. Though the diapers themselves aren’t discounted for all shoppers, Target Circle members (a membership that’s free to join) will get $1 off the price.
Additionally, with a $75 baby care purchase, Target Circle members get a $15 Target GiftCard. It’s fairly easy for new parents to rack up $75 in purchases, so it’s relatively simple to get this deal.
2. Matching Pajamas
- Deal: 40% Off
Though ChatGPT reported the deal was 40% off women’s clothing, the actual deal is 40% off matching pajamas for the whole family. Wires were a bit crossed, but it’s still a substantial deal on certain clothing — some sets start at just $5.
3. Select Footwear
- Deal: 20% Off
ChatGPT reported the deal as 30% off select women’s shoes. In reality, the deal is on all footwear, but only 20% off select styles of shoes. Most styles seem to be slippers.
Deals include $4.40 off Cat & Jack Kids’ Lionel Moccasin Slippers, taking the price down to $17.60. Another deal has dluxe by dearfoams Women’s Carol Slippers on sale for $16 when they’re regularly $20.
ChatGPT Tips for Getting the Most Bang for Your Buck at Target
Though ChatGPT only listed the specific deals above, it did have general pointers for Target shoppers, as well. These included:
- Use the “Weekly Ad” to view upcoming and expiring deals.
- Join or use Target Circle for extra discounts or promos.
- Check clearance and filter by using the term “discount” to find deep-markdown items.
- If you’re shopping online, check for in-store pickup or same-day delivery to save shipping.
- Check “Deal of the Day” offers where savings change daily (these are typically offered on electronics, clothing and more).
ChatGPT added that shoppers should know Target has changed their price match policy. Target used to match other stores’ prices, but will now only match its own website or store prices.
