With the end of the year rapidly approaching, you might be starting to figure out, not only what you want to have in the next year, but also a solid budget. Or maybe you simply just want to focus on having a wild party for New Year’s Eve, leaving the resolutions and budgeting for Jan. 1. Either way, you’ll want to grab $20 and head to Costco to make sure that your new year starts off on the right foot.
“As the year ends, $20 at Costco may go a long way with savvy purchasing,” said Albert Varkki, retail and shopping expert who co-founded Von-Baer. “Concentrate on multi-purpose basics and limited-time offers. One of the most effective strategies to maximize value is to purchase Kirkland Signature items, which are recognized for their exceptional quality at low pricing.”
Whether it is name brand items that you are into or looking for some generic discounts in bulk, head on over to your local Costco and pick up some of these items ahead of the new year.
Trudeau Silicone Muffin Pans
- Price: $14.99
Dec. 31 can be filled with fun, but Jan. 1, you could wake up to a big mess. Why not bake some fresh muffins to start the new year off right, without worrying about adding to your cleaning duties.
“This set is marked at $24.99 online, but in-store at most warehouses, it’s $14.99,” said Melanie Musson, retail finance expert with InsuranceProviders.com. Musson found that similar pans cost $25 per pan at other retailers, while Costco sells a pack of two for less than that.
“Silicone pans are notorious for leading to spills because of their lack of structure,” added Musson. “This muffin pan combines the benefits of silicone but maintains the structure of metal. The top of the pan is metal, while the cup part is silicone.”
Pendleton Plush Throw
- Price: $13.99
Typically the new year is not known for starting on a particularly warm note. Usually, the top of the year kicks off with some cooler temperatures. If you are planning to have friends and family over for the night, make sure to wrap them up snug and sound in a plush throw blanket.
“These throw blankets showcase the beautiful colors and designs that Pendleton is famous for and they’re only $13.99,” said Musson, highlighting at that price, “you should pick one up for yourself and another for a gift.”
Kirkland Signature Snacking Nuts
- Price: $17.99
Want to ditch the candy bars in the new year and have something healthy to snack on? Costco has you covered with Kirkland Signature Snacking Nuts, which come in a 30-count box — 10 packs each of peanuts, almonds and cashews — for just $17.99.
Varraki recommended that shoppers use the Costco app or in-store discounts on items like these, which may then be combined with cashback incentives or membership advantages to save even more. That means you get to have a healthy lifestyle and bank account at the start of the new year.
