Affordable prices don’t always mean cheap or ineffective. Dollar Tree typically beats most competition in terms of price, and sometimes even in quality.
When comparing Dollar Tree versus Target, several items stood out. According to reviews, here are five Dollar Tree items that are of better quality than those at Target.
Balloons
- Price: $1.25 to $5
Dollar Tree sells packs of latex balloons in a range of colors, as well as an assortment of colorful and decorative foil balloons. Prices for balloons range from $1.25 to $5 at the discount retailer, and while Target also sells balloons, you can only get them filled with helium at Dollar Tree.
Shoppers seem generally happy with the quality of Dollar Tree balloons, and one person even commented that their foil balloon remained fully inflated for three weeks.
Ultimate White Whitening Dental Strips
- Price: $1.25
Dollar Tree doesn’t seem like the obvious choice for teeth whitening, but shoppers are happy with the whitening dental strips from Ultimate White. The package comes with six strips and three treatments, and shoppers on Dollar Tree’s website commented that they work great and buy them whenever they’re on shelves.
Target sells whitening strips from several different brands, including a pack of 10-day whitening strips from Target’s Up&Up brand. Both items received positive reviews, but some Target shoppers were not pleased with the outcome.
SpaSoap Antibacterial Hand Soap Refill
- Price: $1.25
A few Redditors have raved about Dollar Tree’s soap refills, selling for only $1.25 for 32 fluid ounces. Target sells 30-ounce refills from its Up&Up brand, but Redditors commented they’re big fans of Dollar Tree’s soap refills, finding them great for the price.
Facial Tissues
- Price: $1.50
Shoppers gave Dollar Tree’s two-ply facial tissues a 4.2 out of five stars, with 89% recommending the product. On Dollar Tree’s website, one customer claimed these tissues compare to the Kleenex brand, but for a much lower price. Others noted they have these stocked up at home year-round. Target does sell Up&Up brand facial tissues, which shoppers positively rate, but at a higher price.
Teaching Tree Taller Organizer
- Price: $1.25
Dollar Tree sells a variety of plastic tubs and organizers, but these tall organizers from Teaching Tree were some of the most popular. Shoppers gave them a 4.5 out of five stars, stating they’re perfect for organizing at home, the classroom or work. These compare to Target’s Room Essentials organizers, but Dollar Tree’s are a fraction of the price for similar quality.
