When it comes to shopping online, Amazon is hard to beat. You can find some great money-saving deals on all sorts of fall items. From home decor to cozy slippers, you’re more likely to end up with too much in your shopping cart than you are to miss something you really need.
If you’re wondering which items the pros are adding to their Amazon shopping cart this fall, you’re in the right place. GOBankingRates reached out to several shopping experts — these are their picks.
Kitchen Essentials
Amazon has a whole host of kitchen essentials, which is why the experts shop there before looking elsewhere.
For Amanda Schmitt, shopping expert and founder of Life As Mama, a Dutch oven for soups, braises and stews is essential.
“There’s nothing better for fall cooking and prices drop significantly after summer,” she said. “I snagged a highly-rated model for under $50 last year.”
And since Dutch ovens don’t need to be replaced every year, there are always other kitchen essentials to get — like a high-quality thermos.
“Nothing beats warming up on a crisp day like a hot drink,” Schmitt said, “and a good thermos will keep it warm for hours as we’re out and about.”
Footwear
Amazon has a huge selection of footwear for adults, kids and everyone in between. Schmitt said athletic shoes and cozy slippers are two things she gets at Amazon in the fall.
“I love to run and fall is the perfect time to replace my well-worn sneakers,” she said. “Major brands often slash prices by 30% or more in September and October.”
As for slippers, they’re a must for those colder floors. For Schmitt, someone who has little ones, cozy and supportive slippers are a must-have.
Items for the Kids
Schmitt added that there are several things she shops for at Amazon for her family, especially as retailers start switching out their stock and prices come down around this time of the year. This includes kids pajamas, rain boots, umbrella strollers and coats.
“The temperatures are dropping and the rain is coming, so waterproof gear is key for getting outside,” she said. “I’ve found rain boots as much as 60% off and strollers [discounted] $100 or more.”
While not an annual buy, Schmitt added that she’s also found durable outdoor playsets for her daughters.
“Fall means more time outside before winter, and sales mean I can snag a high-quality set for 40% off,” she said.
Pest Control Solutions
Pest control might not be your first thought in the fall, but if you’re a homeowner, maybe it should be.
“Amazon can be a great place to stock up on pest control products like mouse and spider traps in the fall,” said Brett Bennett, shopping expert and director of operations at PURCOR Pest Solutions.
“Pest problems are often a bigger problem during the colder months, because pests are looking for warmth, shelter, and food,” Bennett added. “So, people often have to take extra precautions. Amazon happens to have a lot of choices, often with items you can buy in bulk.”
Crafting Supplies
Schmitt shared that she often looks for fall crafting supplies at Amazon so she can do some DIY decor and fun rainy day projects with the family. This includes things like string lights, ribbon, buttons and felt — anything and everything that goes hand-in-hand with DIY crafting.
“At a fraction of the cost of pre-made decorations, it’s an easy way to save,” she said.
Holiday Gifts
Rather than wait until winter to purchase holiday gifts, Schmitt said she’ll start picking up little things around this time of the year.
“Things like scented candles, cozy socks, coffee mugs and chocolates are easy to wrap last minute but still feel personal,” she said. “I find the best deals on these by watching for coupon codes and lightning deals.”
Other Home Supplies
Finally, Schmitt shared two other Amazon fall buys: an essential oil diffuser and a cozy weighted blanket.
“[Diffusing] fall scents like cinnamon, clove or pumpkin spice makes our home smell like the season,” she said. “A diffuser also humidifies and can help with allergies as the heat kicks on.”
As for a weighted blanket, there’s nothing better for keeping warm on chillier nights.
“A weighted blanket helps my whole family sleep soundly through the night,” Schmitt said. And since many retailers mark down their prices in the fall, these blankets are even more affordable than usual.
