On October 17, Walmart revealed all the items in its “inflation-free” Thanksgiving meal which serves eight people for less than $7 per person. This isn’t the first time Walmart’s done something like this, but it’s certainly sooner — and cheaper — than previous years.

In addition, Walmart has included a way for people to gift a meal to their family members or friends anywhere in the U.S. Those who are feeling extra generous can also donate a meal to their local Salvation Army.

Walmart’s “inflation-free” Thanksgiving is available from now through Dec. 24. Even better is that customers don’t have to shop in person if they don’t want to deal with the crowds or long, winding aisles. Instead, they can head to Walmart.com/thanksgiving and start their shopping there.

In the report, John Laney, Walmart’s executive vice president of food, explained the reason for offering their customers these affordable Thanksgiving meal options.

“Some of the holiday’s most special moments take place around the dinner table,” he said. “At Walmart, we are committed to offering customers even deeper savings on top of our Every Day Low Prices for all their mealtime needs. And with more opportunities to gift a meal and give back to those in need, we’re helping customers spread holiday cheer to their loved ones and their local communities.”

How To Gift Meals to Loved Ones

This year, Walmart’s making it easy to spread the holiday cheer.

You can donate a Thanksgiving meal — or its equivalent — to your local Salvation Army. Or you can round up any online purchase to help the charity. You can also donate gifts to kids through the Angel Tree program, though only at select Sam’s Clubs and Walmart locations.

And if you prefer to help out a loved one, you can do that as well. On Walmart.com, input your recipient’s name and address and they’ll receive the meal to their door or at a nearby store.

Other Ways To Save Money This Thanksgiving

Here are a few other options:

  • Have a potluck. Who says you have to both host and bring all of the dishes? Get your friends, family and neighbors to whip up a dish or two each and make it a group thing. You can even get someone to bring disposable dishes to keep cleaning up to a minimum.
  • Use coupons and loyal programs. Many stores, including Walmart, accept paper and digital manufacturer coupons. Just make sure they haven’t expired yet.
  • Use cash back. If you have a credit or debit card with cash back rewards, redeem those to offset the cost of your grocery trip.
  • Start shopping early. There’s not much time left before Thanksgiving this year, but you can always offset costs by shopping a little early. Picking up some canned or frozen ingredients a few weeks or a month in advance can lighten the load on your wallet.
  • Purchase ingredients in bulk. At places like Costco, you can buy ingredients in bulk to save money. Just be sure to buy only what you need and to use what you get.
