Members of the U.S. military sign up to put themselves into danger in situations that most civilians couldn’t dream of doing, no matter which branch of the service they are in. Other than on days such as Memorial Day and Veterans Day, military personnel often do not receive much thanks for their challenging jobs.
There are only so many ways to reward that level of responsibility and risk, but many businesses try to let service people know that their efforts are noticed and help lighten their financial load by offering military discounts on products and services.
Amtrak
Active duty military personnel and their families can save 10% when taking an Amtrak trip. This discount is only good for regular fares and can’t be combined with other discounts. Uniformed personnel and family members are also allowed to move to the front of any Amtrak ticket line.
AT&T Wireless
Military personnel rack up a lot of phone time when they’re on active duty. AT&T gets that, and offers them 25% off its unlimited wireless plans. The discount applies to active duty, reserves, National Guard, spouses and veterans with proof of ID or veteran status at any AT&T store.
Big 5 Sporting Goods
