Costco clearance can offer incredible deals — but not every item is worth buying. It’s easy to get drawn in by a competitive sale price, but some products are likely discounted for a reason.
If you’re not aware, prices on Costco clearance items end in “.97” for national markdowns and “.00” for local markdowns, according to The Krazy Koupon Lady. When shopping online, you can find these deals by clicking on the “While Supplies Last” tab.
There are always clearance items to choose from, and some are truly a steal. However, it’s important to conduct a bit of background research before buying, to make sure you’re purchasing a product that’s worth your hard-earned money.
Want to find out what items to avoid right now? Here are five products currently in the Costco clearance section that are giving buyers regret.
OVE Decors Joakim Three-Light Vanity
Price: $79.97
Sleek and contemporary, the OVE Decors Joakim Three-Light Vanity is definitely attractive. However, several reviewers complained it was difficult to install and didn’t fit tight to the wall.
A couple of reviewers also noted that the vanity arrived damaged. One person said a vanity light bulb was broken — which meant they had to return it, due to its unique shape and lack of an available replacement — and another said one bulb was detached from the base.
Dear.A Nail Essence
Price: $12.97
Sold in a four-pack of applicators, Dear.A Nail Essence is designed to help moisturize damaged nails and improve both cuticle and nail health. However, many reviewers claim they didn’t realize the marketed benefits.
Many complained the applicators were hard to use, either not dispensing the product at all, very slowly or only after putting forth significant effort. Others said the product simply didn’t work for them, leaving them unimpressed after use.
Spyder Core Conduct Glove
Price: $9.97
Seemingly a winter essential, the Spyder Core Conduct Glove is marketed as sweater knit material with fleece, with thermal temperature regulation, a quilted leather palm patch and finger touchscreen capabilities on the thumb and index finger. Reviewers didn’t hate these gloves, but many complained they didn’t fully deliver.
While it seems they might be warm enough for chilly weather, many reviewers said they didn’t cut it in temperatures around the freezing mark and below. Many also said the touchscreen feature doesn’t actually work, forcing them to remove the gloves to use their devices.
Pelonis Two-in-One Turbo Heater and Fan
Price: $24.97
Designed for use in both heat and cold, the Pelonis Two-in-One Turbo Heater and Fan seems like a product that could be used throughout multiple seasons. Featuring three heat and two fan settings, it’s marketed as having a digital control and thermostat with overheat protection, an up to eight-hour programmable timer and the ability to pivot up to 75 degrees.
Reviewers shared a slew of complaints about this item, mainly claims it doesn’t properly heat or cool a room. One person also said their product caught on fire, while another person was disappointed it doesn’t automatically shut off if tipped over.
LU’PIUM Vitality Salt Body Scrub
Price: $9.97
It’s advertised on the Costco site as “delivers glowing skin,” but several reviewers beg to differ. Designed to exfoliate and moisturize, this 10.14-ounce scrub is infused with sea salt and seven multi-weight hyaluronic acids — but it’s only rated 3.4 stars on the Costco site.
Multiple reviewers complained the scrub isn’t thick enough to properly exfoliate, making it impossible to produce desired results. Others weren’t fans of its bergamot fruit oil and grapefruit oil smell.
