As we await the impact of tariffs, which will see many exported goods go up tremendously in price, many of us are doing some extra shopping — and that includes nonessentials like home décor.
One of the best places to shop for home décor items is Marshalls, without a doubt. Not only are their prices fantastic, but their collection is unique. You can find some pretty original pieces that look like they cost triple whatever Marshalls sells them for, at least.
If you’re on a fairly frugal budget and looking for a new home décor piece this spring, check out these six items from Marshalls that are each under $50 — but look exceptionally more expensive.
Two-Tiered Marble Drink Table
The 24-inch marble tabletop two-tiered drink table selling at Marshalls in April for $49.99 (comparable value $65). It’s one of those regal items that can completely transform the vibe of a space and make it more guest-friendly. Given how pricey marble can be, it’s surprising that this table isn’t more expensive.
Novelty Pillow With Flamingoes On Bicycles
Okay, this one isn’t for the quiet luxury shoppers out there. It’s for the consumers who want some quirk in their den, patio or any other room. The 14-inch-by-24-inch Flamingo Pillow by Callisto Home has a print of pink flamingoes on green bicycles gliding among green palm trees against a beige backdrop. It’s a fun and timeless item that we could see selling at Anthropologie for triple what it costs at Marshalls ($39.99).
Harpers Bazaar Framed Cover + Easel Set
Are you an intellectual fashionista with an artistic side? Break out your mouth tape so your jaw doesn’t drop at the looks of the 12-inch-by-16-inch Harpers Bazaar Frame Easel Set by Petal Lane. This easel includes a framed print of an antique Harper’s Bazaar magazine cover. That takes the pressure off having to create something gorgeous, but you can still use the easel if you wish. Could you hoodwink an antique store dealer with this cool item that goes for $39.99 at Marshalls?
Penelope Chinoiserie Ginger Jar Table Lamp
The 22-inch Penelope Chinoiserie Ginger Jar Table Lamp by Jonathan Y has a comparable value of $65, and sells at Marshalls for $49.99. Either price seems like a steal for this exquisitely elegant piece that would literally and figuratively light up any space where a little something extra is warranted.
Gold Monkey Lamp
You have to see the 12-inch Sitting Monkey Uplight by Tommy Bahama to believe it (and instantly love it). As much a sculpture as it is a lamp, it features a gold-hued monkey sitting upright, holding a lightbulb. And it’s a real lightbulb. We could totally see this piece selling at a Paris boutique for hundreds of Euros. It sells at Marshalls for $39.99.
Cherries Canvas Print-In Textured Frame
Imagine you’re wandering through the streets of Rome, and you come across an open market with vendors boasting artisan goods. You spot a large (18-inch-by-24-inch) canvas painting with a strikingly realistic rendering of cherries on a silver tray against a silky rich background.
You’re probably afraid to look at the price because you know it will be steep. But then you wake up and, actually, you’re at Marshalls and the gorgeous canvas painting costs just $29.99 — with the textured frame.
