Buying at a big-box store like Best Buy has lots of advantages: great selection, competitive prices and, if you go to the store, in-person assistance with choosing the right product. But not every product carried by Best Buy is going to be a winner.
Here are six items at Best Buy that have the most complaints from consumers.
Also check out Home Depot products that have received the most complaints.
Televisions
LG 24-Inch Class LED Smart TV With WebOS
Rating: 4.6 out of 5 stars
A 4.6 rating might seem pretty good — and for some products, it would be. But there are enough small TVs with five-star ratings available for about the same price ($169.99) that there’s no reason to go with this LG 24-inch TV. Customer complaints included poor picture quality and online instructions and prompts that were difficult to use.
Pioneer 65-Inch Class LED 4K UHD Smart Xumo TV
Rating: 4.4 out of 5 stars
If you’re going to buy a 65-inch TV, you want it to look and sound impressive. According to customers, this Pioneer 65-inch TV doesn’t. Complaints included an audio lag that couldn’t be fixed, the inability to maintain a Wi-Fi connection and poor picture quality. Granted, at $329.99 on sale, it’s one of Best Buy’s least expensive 65-inch TVs.
Sound Bars
Hisense 2.1-Channel Soundbar With Built-In Subwoofer
Rating: 4.3 out of 5 stars
There are a lot of high-quality sound bars on the market, but this one from Hisense isn’t a fan favorite. It’s definitely at the low end in terms of price, so perhaps you get what you pay for. Customers indicated that the sound quality was poor and, in some cases, the bar stopped working after just a few months. Some customers expressed frustration that the bar couldn’t be returned after it stopped working because the return window had closed.
Computers
CyberPower PC Gamer Supreme Gaming Desktop
Rating: 3.1 out of 5 stars
PC gamers expect a lot from their gaming desktop computers, but sometimes they don’t get it. This CyberPower computer, with a hefty $3,429.99 price tag, had many complaints that it overheats and that games crash upon launching.
Smartwatches
Citizen CZ Smart 44-Millimeter Unisex Stainless Hybrid Sport Smartwatch
Rating: 4.0 out of 5 stars
When buying a smartwatch, it’s important to consider whether “smart” or “watch” is more important to you. Citizen makes watches, and it decided to make one of them – this 44-millimeter Citizen CZ — smart. Other manufacturers of smart technology opted to make watches. Customers of this watch liked its appearance but said the technology is limited.
Home Security
Aqara M2 Hub Control Center
Rating: 3.0 out of 5 stars
This smart-home control center is affordable at $59.99 and works with a Wi-Fi or ethernet network to connect to Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple HomeKit. But customers found it to be limited in range and compatibility and found the company to be nonresponsive when customer service was required.
Considering the range and number of products carried by Best Buy stores, it’s inevitable that there will be some variation in quality. Before making a purchase, especially a significant one, do your homework by reading the reviews.
